Abstract

This publication examines the state of mental health research capacity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and highlights the challenges that limit the development of research in this field, including insufficient funding, limited training opportunities, inadequate infrastructure, and low policy prioritization. Through a systematic assessment, the work identifies gaps in research capacity and proposes practical strategies to strengthen mental health research systems. The publication emphasizes the importance of translating research into policy and practice, fostering international collaboration, and building sustainable research environments to improve mental health outcomes in LMICs.
