Urgencias maxilofaciales del personal militar que acudieron al Servicio de Odontología del Hospital Militar del VRAEM, Perú, 2015-2019

Abstract

Antecedentes: Las urgencias maxilofaciales, en el servicio de odontología son circunstancias o problemas que se presentan de manera súbita. Objetivo: Determinar las urgencias maxilofaciales del personal militar que acudieron al Servicio de Odontología del hospital militar del VRAEM. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio de tipo descriptivo, retrospectivo y transversal, se revisaron 1708 historias clínicas completas en un periodo del 2015 al 2019. Las variables fueron las urgencias maxilofaciales (fracturas e infecciones) y el grado militar y teniendo como covariables la edad, sexo, año y tipo de atención. Se procesó en el paquete estadístico Stata versión 15. Resultados: Se presentaron en total 83 fracturas (4.86%) de los cuales los traumatismos alveolodentarios representaron el 3.57 % (n=61) del total de las urgencias, en cuanto al grado militar es el personal de tropa servicio militar voluntario fue el que más acudió llegando a un 55.98% (n=956), hubo un predomino del sexo masculino con un 98.48% (n=1682). La atención que más destaco fue de tipo continuador que alcanzo 85.71% (n=1464). Conclusión: Se obtuvo una mayor cantidad de urgencias de tipo infecciosa, siendo la pulpitis, las que afectaron mayoritariamente al personal de oficiales, técnicos / suboficiales y tropa servicio militar voluntario.

Background: Maxillofacial emergencies in the dentistry service are circumstances or problems that occur suddenly. Objective: To determine the maxillofacial emergencies of military personnel who attended the Dental Service of the VRAEM military hospital. Materials and Methods: Descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional study, 1708 complete medical records were reviewed in a period from 2015 to 2019. The care that stood out the most was of the continuation type, which reached 85.71% (n=1464). Conclusion: A greater number of emergencies of the infected type was obtained, being pulpitis, which mainly affected the personnel of officers, technicians / non-commissioned officers and voluntary military service troops.
