Post-traumatic stress is a significant problem among prehospital care personnel, who are exposed daily to accidents, disasters, and violent situations. Frequent exposure to these events creates a high risk of developing symptoms such as re-experiencing, avoidance, hypervigilance, and functional impairments, which affect not only their mental health but also their job performance. The problem is exacerbated in the Peruvian context due to the limited coverage of mental health programs at work, the lack of specific protocols for monitoring these personnel, and the persistence of underreporting of cases. Therefore, the objective of this study is to synthesize the available academic evidence on post-traumatic stress in prehospital care personnel, identifying prevention, detection, and management measures from the perspective of occupational medicine. That is why the objective of this study is to synthesize the available academic evidence on post-traumatic stress in pre-hospital care personnel, identifying prevention, detection, and management measures from the perspective of occupational medicine. It will be developed under the PRISMA guidelines in three chapters: fundamentals and epidemiology of PTSD, risk factors and deficiencies in prevention, and intervention strategies based on screening, psychological support, and workplace reintegration. The research is justified by the urgent need to establish policies that prioritize the mental health of prehospital personnel, promoting their well-being and strengthening the emergency response.
