Evaluación tomográfica de la cresta infracigomática en sujetos con relación esquelética clase II del Centro Dental Docente Cayetano Heredia entre los años 2008-2023

Abstract

Introducción: La distalización de molares para la compensación ortodóntica en sujetos con relación esquelética clase II, actualmente se consigue a través del uso de minitornillos ortodónticos colocados a nivel de la Cresta Infracigomática (CI), el cual proporciona un anclaje esquelético estable. Sin embargo, la evidencia científica describe variaciones respecto a su localización y dimensiones, asociadas al sexo, edad, patrones y relaciones esqueléticas, entre otros. Objetivos: Evaluar mediante Tomografías Computarizadas de Haz Cónico (TCHC), las dimensiones de la altura ósea y grosor cortical de la CI en sujetos con relación esquelética clase II según sexo y edad, que asistieron al Centro Dental Docente Cayetano Heredia entre los años 2008-2023. Materiales y Métodos: El presente trabajo académico será de tipo observacional, descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo. Se solicitarán las autorizaciones correspondientes para analizar y seleccionar, en una primera etapa, las historias clínicas y exámenes auxiliares del Servicio de Ortodoncia y Ortopedia Maxilar del mencionado centro dental, posteriormente a las calibraciones, se realizará la segunda etapa de selección, para obtener TCHC que cumplan los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se realizará estandarización de procedimientos, trazando de líneas y puntos de referencia para el estudio de las variables. Conclusiones: Se concluye que los resultados del presente trabajo académico, permitirán determinar si existe o no asociación de las variables altura ósea y grosor cortical de la cresta infracigomática en relación a las covariables sexo y edad, en sujetos con relación esquelética clase II que acudieron al Centro Dental Docente Cayetano Heredia.

Introduction: Molar distalization for orthodontic compensation in subjects with class II skeletal relationship is currently achieved through the use of orthodontic miniscrews placed at the level of the Infrazygomatic Crest (IC), which provides a stable skeletal anchorage. However, scientific evidence describes variations regarding its location and dimensions, associated with sex, age, skeletal patterns and relationships, among others. Objectives: To evaluate, using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), the dimensions of bone height and cortical thickness of the IC in subjects with class II skeletal relationship according to sex and age, who attended the Cayetano Heredia Teaching Dental Center between 2008-2023. Materials and Methods: This academic work will be observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective. The corresponding authorizations will be requested to analyze and select, in a first stage, the clinical histories and auxiliary examinations of the Orthodontics and Maxillary Orthopedics Service of the aforementioned dental center. After the calibrations, the second stage of selection will be carried out, in order to obtain TCHC that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Standardization of procedures will be carried out, drawing lines and reference points for the study of the variables. Conclusions: It is concluded that the results of this academic work will allow to determine whether or not there is an association between the variables bone height and cortical thickness of the infrazygomatic crest in relation to the covariates sex and age, in subjects with class II skeletal relationship who attended the Cayetano Heredia Teaching Dental Center.
