Frecuencia fenotípica de los sistemas sanguíneos ABO, Rh y Kell en donantes del Hospital Nacional Sergio E. Bernales (Lima-Perú) durante el año 2021

Abstract

Los sistemas sanguíneos son características hereditarias fundamentales en la Medicina Transfusional, destacándose los sistemas ABO, Rh y Kell. Las transfusiones de sangre son esenciales para tratar diversas condiciones médicas y mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes. En este estudio, describimos las características sociodemográficas y los sistemas sanguíneos de 4245 donantes del Hospital Nacional Sergio E. Bernales en 2021. Se encontró que la mayoría de los donantes eran hombres peruanos residentes en Lima, predominantemente de entre 18 y 29 años. Los tipos de sangre más comunes fueron O Rh (+) (78.1%), A Rh (+) (14.6%) y B Rh (+) (6.1%), con una alta prevalencia de Rh (+) (99.1%) y Kell (-) (99.3%). Los fenotipos Rh más frecuentes fueron Ce, Ec y CEce, siendo estos grupos sanguíneos más prevalentes en hombres.

Blood systems are hereditary characteristics fundamental to Transfusion Medicine, with the ABO, Rh, and Kell systems being particularly significant. Blood transfusions are essential for treating various medical conditions and improving patients' quality of life. In this study, we describe the sociodemographic characteristics and blood systems of 4,245 donors at the Sergio E. Bernales National Hospital in 2021. It was found that most donors were Peruvian men residing in Lima, predominantly between 25 and 28 years old. The most common blood types were O Rh (+) (78.1%), A Rh (+) (14.6%), and B Rh (+) (6.1%), with a high prevalence of Rh (+) (99.1%) and Kell (-) (99.3%). The most frequent Rh phenotypes were Ce, Ec, and CEce, with these blood groups being more prevalent in men.
