Evaluación tomográfica de la anatomía interna de primeros y segundos premolares maxilares de pacientes que acudieron al Servicio de Radiología de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia

Abstract

Objetivo: Evaluar la Anatomía interna y externa que presentan los premolares superiores a nivel radicular. Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo, transversal, retrospectivo y observacional; utilizando el sistema Carestream Dental del Servicio de Radiología de la Facultad de Estomatología de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia sede San Isidro observando las imágenes en su vista multiplanar y reconstrucciones en 3D. Resultados: De los premolares superiores estudiados hubo una mayor presencia de piezas unirradiculares en un 74,5% y 96,2% para el primer y segundo premolar respectivamente; en cuanto a la configuración interna según Vertucci el primer premolar superior presento un 33,1% del Tipo IV, y en el segundo premolar superior un 74,7% son del Tipo I. Conclusión: Los primeros premolares presentan en mayor porcentaje del Tipo IV de Vertucci con un mayor porcentaje de dos conductos por pieza dental y en los segundos premolares una mayor cantidad y tipo I de Vertucci con un alto porcentaje de piezas con un conducto.

Objective: To evaluate the internal and external anatomy of the maxillary premolars at the radicular level. Material and methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective and observational study was carried out using the Carestream Dental system of the Radiology Service of the Faculty of Stomatology of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, San Isidro, observing the images in their multiplanar view and 3D reconstructions. Results: Of the maxillary premolars studied there was a greater presence of single root in 74.5% and 96.2% for the first and second premolars respectively; as for their internal configuration according to Vertucci the first maxillary premolar presented 33.1% of Type IV, and in the second maxillary premolar 74.7% are of Type I. Conclusion: The first premolars have a higher percentage of Vertucci Type IV with a higher percentage of two canals per tooth and the second premolars have a higher percentage of Vertucci Type I with a high percentage of teeth with one canal.
