Manifestaciones bucales más prevalentes en pacientes pediátricos con leucemia linfoblástica aguda sometidos a tratamientos de quimioterapia en el Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas, 2025

Abstract

Introducción: La Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda (LLA) es el cáncer infantil más común. El tratamiento de quimioterapia es fundamental en el manejo de esta enfermedad y puede causar diversas manifestaciones bucales en estos pacientes. Este estudio se centra en identificar estas manifestaciones en pacientes pediátricos con LLA atendidos en el Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas (INEN) en 2025. Objetivo: Determinar las manifestaciones bucales más prevalentes en pacientes pediátricos con LLA sometidos a tratamientos de quimioterapia en el INEN en el año 2025. Materiales y Métodos: Será un estudio transversal, descriptivo y observacional. En pacientes pediátricos entre 0 a 15 años con LLA sometidos a quimioterapia atendidos en el INEN de enero a diciembre del 2025. Se utilizará un formulario de registro para recoger datos sociodemográficos, manifestaciones bucales y detalles del tratamiento. Se realizará un examen clínico bucal detallado para identificar la presencia de gingivitis, caries dental, xerostomía, queilitis, mucositis y herpes. Se utilizará el paquete estadístico SPSS para el análisis descriptivo y pruebas estadísticas (chi-cuadrado y t de Student) con un nivel de significancia del 5% y un intervalo de confianza del 95%. Conclusiones: Este estudio nos proporcionaría conclusiones relevantes sobre las diversas manifestaciones bucales resultantes del tratamiento de quimioterapia en pacientes pediátricos con Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda.

Introduction: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is the most common childhood cancer. Chemotherapy treatment is essential in the management of this disease and can cause various oral manifestations in these patients. This study focuses on identifying these manifestations in pediatric patients with ALL treated at the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN) in 2025. Objective: Determine the most prevalent oral manifestations in pediatric patients with ALL undergoing chemotherapy treatments at the INEN in the year 2025. Materials and Methods: It will be a cross-sectional, descriptive and observational study. In pediatric patients between 0 and 15 years of age with ALL undergoing chemotherapy treated at the INEN from January to December 2025. A registration form will be used to collect sociodemographic data, oral manifestations and details of the treatment. A detailed oral clinical examination will be performed to identify the presence of gingivitis, dental caries, xerostomia, cheilitis, mucositis and herpes. The SPSS statistical package will be used for descriptive analysis and statistical tests (chi-square and Student's t) with a significance level of 5% and a confidence interval of 95%. Conclusions: This study would provide us with relevant conclusions about the various oral manifestations resulting from chemotherapy treatment in pediatric patients with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
