Acceso a información sobre salud oral en niños peruanos menores de doce años, 2019-2021

Abstract

Antecedentes: Existe una alta prevalencia de caries dental y otras enfermedades bucales, para remediar esta condición debemos tener mayor conocimiento en cómo prevenirlas desde edad temprana. Objetivos: Determinar el acceso a información sobre salud oral en niños peruanos menores de doce años, 2019-2021. Materiales y Métodos: Ingreso a la página web de INEI para acceder a la base de la ENDES correspondiente al año 2019, 2020 y 2021, se tomaron en cuenta las interrogantes sobre acceso a la información en salud bucal. Los registros con datos en las variables de estudio fueron 15 974 en total para el 2019, 7 088 para el 2020 y 11 262 para el 2021. Luego se diseñaron tablas y gráficos para describir los resultados obtenidos. Resultados: El acceso a la información durante el año 2019 fue 62.03% (n=15 973), para el año 2020 fue de 55.55% (n=7 088) y por último 44.66% (n=11 262) para el 2021. Según el análisis bivariado, hubo diferencias significativas en la asociación entre el acceso a información sobre salud bucal y los años 2019-2021 en niños peruanos menores a 12 años, estando asociado al año, región natural, área de residencia, lugar de residencia, altitud, índice de riqueza, tenencia de seguro y sexo. Conclusión: El acceso a información sobre salud oral en niños peruanos menores de doce años en el periodo 2019 al 2021, se redujo en un 18%.

Background: There is a high prevalence of dental caries and other oral diseases, to remedy this condition we must have greater knowledge on how to prevent them from an early age. Objectives: Determine access to oral health information in Peruvian children under twelve years of age, 2019-2021. Materials and Methods: Access to the INEI website to access the ENDES database corresponding to the year 2019, 2020 and 2021, questions about access to oral health information were taken into account. The records with data on the study variables were 15,974 in total for 2019, 7,088 for 2020 and 11,262 for 2021. Tables and graphs were then designed to describe the results obtained. Results: Access to information during the year 2019 was 62.03% (n=15,973), for the year 2020 it was 55.55% (n=7,088) and finally 44.66% (n=11,262) for 2021. According to the bivariate analysis, there were significant differences in the association between access to oral health information and the years 2019-2021 in Peruvian children under 12 years of age, being associated with the year, natural region, area of residence, place of residence, altitude , wealth index, insurance ownership and sex. Conclusion: Access to information about oral health in Peruvian children under twelve years of age in the period 2019 to 2021 was reduced by 18%.
