Asociación entre el alcoholismo parental y problemas de salud mental en adolescentes en ciudades de la sierra del Perú en los años del 2010 al 2018

Abstract

Antecedentes: El alcoholismo es un problema a nivel mundial que no solo repercute negativamente en el bebedor, sino también en su familia y entre estos en sus hijos. Se ha visto que hijos adolescentes de padres alcohólicos presentan diferentes problemas psicosociales; sin embargo, hasta la actualidad hay escasos estudios enfocados en la relación del alcoholismo parental con problemas de salud mental desarrollados por adolescentes en el Perú. Objetivo: La presente investigación desea estimar la fuerza de asociación entre la presencia de uso nocivo o dependencia de alcohol en padres y problemas de salud mental en sus hijos adolescentes en ciudades de la sierra del Perú entre los años del 2010 al 2018. Materiales y métodos: Estudio analítico con diseño transversal de fuente secundaria proveniente de estudios epidemiológicos de salud mental realizados por el INSM “HD-HN” en ciudades de la sierra peruana. Resultados: Se encontró asociación estadísticamente significativa entre alcoholismo parental y el consumo de sustancias legales, tabaco y alcohol, la presencia de al menos 2 criterios de abuso de alcohol y la presencia de conductas psicopáticas e indicadores suicidas en hijos adolescentes. Conclusión: Se confirma que la presencia de abuso/dependencia de alcohol en los padres se asocia de manera significativa con el consumo de sustancias legales, tabaco, alcohol y la presencia de indicadores suicidas, conductas psicopáticas y al menos 2 criterios de abuso de alcohol en hijos adolescentes de 11 ciudades de la sierra del Perú.

Background: Alcoholism is a global issue that not only negatively impacts the drinker, but also their family, particularly their children. It has been observed that adolescent children of alcoholic parents experience various psychosocial problems. However, there is a lack of studies focusing on the relationship between parental alcoholism and mental health issues among adolescents in Peru. Objective: This research aims to estimate the strength of association between harmful or dependent alcohol use in parents and mental health problems in their adolescent children in cities in the Peruvian highlands from 2010 to 2018. Materials and Methods: This is an analytical study with a cross-sectional design using secondary data from mental health epidemiological studies conducted by INSM "HD-HN" in cities in the Peruvian highlands. Results: A statistically significant association was found between parental alcoholism and the consumption of legal substances, tobacco and alcohol, the presence of at least 2 criteria for alcohol abuse, and the presence of psychopathic behaviors and suicidal indicators in adolescent children. Conclusion: It is confirmed that the presence of alcohol abuse/dependence in parents is significantly associated with the consumption of legal substances, tobacco, alcohol and the presence of suicidal indicators, psychopathic behaviors and at least 2 criteria of alcohol abuse in adolescent children from 11 cities in the Peruvian highlands.
