Vultur gryphus Linnaeus, 1758, Andean Condor, is the world’s largest soaring birds. It inhabits the Andes mountains and is categorized as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List. In 2024, members of the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance conducted exploratory field trips to Junin and Pasco regions of Peru to assess whether these areas are critical for the conservation and long-term survival of this species. Using direct observation, 11 individuals were counted, including seven adults and four juveniles, and with Remote Piloted Aircraft System, three individuals were observed: one chick next to a nest and, nearby, two adults. These findings are crucial to the research and conservation of V. gryphus in Peru because of the limited historical research on condor nesting. We recommend that the areas where our new records were recorded should be a priority for the conservation of condors. © The authors.en_US
