Estrategias de afrontamiento en familiares de primer o segundo grado de personas que han sido contagiadas con Covid19 en el 2020 en el distrito del Agustino

Abstract

El objetivo de la presente investigación ha sido comprender cómo afrontaron el proceso de enfermedad los familiares de primer y segundo grado de personas que fueron contagiadas con Covid19 en el 2020 en el distrito de El Agustino. Se trató de un estudio cualitativo con enfoque fenomenológico. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas y la muestra estuvo conformada por 9 personas con edades entre 30 a 60 años, tres hombres y seis mujeres. Los resultados muestran que los participantes experimentaron reacciones emocionales como el miedo, el cual los ayudó afrontar la situación y al mismo tiempo dificultó el acompañamiento al familiar. Asimismo, atravesaron dificultades económicas, físicas, mentales y sociales, frente a las cuales desplegaron estrategias de afrontamiento centradas en resolver el problema y reestablecer su estabilidad emocional; entre las más significativas el apoyo familiar y social, y sus creencias (religión). Los participantes consideran que utilizar estas estrategias son de gran importancia pues generaron beneficios en su bienestar psicológico y les permitió acompañar a sus familiares durante el proceso de enfermedad.

The aim of this research was to understand how first- and second-degree relatives of people who were infected with COVID-19 in 2020 in the district of El Agustino coped with the illness. It was a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and the sample consisted of 9 people, aged between 30 to 60 years, three men and six women. The results show that participants experienced emotional reactions such as fear, which helped them cope with the situation but also made it difficult to support their relatives. Furthermore, they faced economic, physical, mental, and social difficulties, to which they used coping strategies focused on problem-solving and restoring emotional stability. Among the most significant strategies were family and social support and their beliefs (religion). Participants considered using these strategies to be very important, as they generated benefits for their psychological well-being and allowed them to accompany their relatives throughout the illness process.
