Frecuencia de parestesia post operatoria de exodoncia de terceros molares inferiores de pacientes atendidos en un centro dental docente, Lima-Perú, 2025

Abstract

Introducción: La exodoncia de terceros molares inferiores es una de las cirugías orales ambulatorias más comunes realizadas por el especialista. Como toda cirugía puede presentar complicaciones post operatorias dentro de las cuales se ubica la parestesia, siendo esta una complicación nerviosa poco común. Se ha descrito en la literatura múltiples complicaciones post operatoria en exodoncia de terceros molares inferiores que se pueden prevenir mediante un buen diagnóstico y plan de tratamiento. Es imperativo que el cirujano conozca los factores asociados a la parestesia post operatoria en este tipo de cirugía con la finalidad de disminuir la frecuencia de esta complicación. Objetivo: Determinar la frecuencia parestesia post operatoria de exodoncia de terceros molares inferiores de pacientes atendidos en la Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima-Perú, 2025. Material y métodos: El presente estudio de investigación es de tipo transversal. La población estudiada fueron los pacientes tanto hombres como mujeres mayores de 18 años de edad que fueron atendidos en el servicio de Cirugía Bucal y Maxilofacial del Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia en el periodo del año 2025 para exodoncia de terceros molares inferiores. Conclusiones: La frecuencia de parestesia post operatoria de exodoncia de terceros molares inferiores es mayor cuando la posición del conductor alveolar inferior está hacia lingual en relación a las raíces del diente.

Introduction: Extraction of lower third molars is one of the most common outpatient oral surgeries performed by specialists. Like any surgery, it can present postoperative complications, among which paresthesia is a rare nervous complication. Multiple postoperative complications have been described in the literature in the extraction of lower third molars that can be prevented through a good diagnosis and treatment plan. It is imperative that the surgeon knows the factors associated with postoperative paresthesia in this type of surgery in order to reduce the frequency of this complication. Objective: To determine the frequency of postoperative paresthesia in the extraction of lower third molars in patients treated at the Teaching Dental Center of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru, 2025. Material and methods: This research study is cross-sectional. The study population consisted of male and female patients over 18 years of age who were treated at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University Teaching Dental Center during the year 2025 for extraction of lower third molars. Conclusions: The frequency of postoperative paresthesia after extraction of lower third molars is higher when the position of the lower alveolar conductor is lingual in relation to the tooth roots.
