Asociación entre el cepillado dental y nivel educativo del jefe de familia de hogares de niños peruanos en el 2021

Abstract

Antecedentes: La acción para promover la salud bucal de los niños requiere reconocer que los padres y/o cuidadores desempeñan un papel crucial en la adquisición temprana de comportamientos y hábitos de salud bucal en la población infantil. Objetivo: Mediante la presente investigación se buscó establecer la asociación entre el cepillado dental y nivel educativo del jefe de familia de hogares de niños peruanos en el 2021. Materiales y métodos: Transversal mediante un muestreo bioetápico, probabilístico del tipo estratificado, equilibrado e independiente. Se tomo el nivel educativo más alto del jefe de familia como la variable independiente y cepillado dental general, cepillado dental diario y cepillado dental de mínimo 2 veces al día como variables dependientes; y como co-varibles: el índice de riqueza, tendencia de seguro de salud, sexo, edad, área de residencia y región natural. Resultados: El nivel secundario de educación del jefe de familia presentó una asociación positiva con el cepillado dental general (RPa: 1.04; IC 95%: 1,03-1,06; p<0,001) ajustado por la variable: índice de riqueza, seguro de salud, sexo, edad, región natural, área de residencia, lugar de residencia y altitud. Conclusión: Existe una positiva entre el nivel secundario de educación del jefe de familia y el cepillado dental general de los niños menores de 12 años de edad en el Perú, año 2022.

Background: Action to promote children's oral health requires recognizing that parents and/or caregivers play a crucial role in the early acquisition of oral health behaviors and habits in children. Objective: Through this research, we sought to establish the association between tooth brushing and the educational level of the head of the family of Peruvian children's homes in 2021. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional by mean of biostage, probabilistic sampling of the stratified, balanced and independent type. The highest educational level of the head of the family was taken as the independent variable and general dental brushing, daily tooth brushing and tooth brushing at least twice a day as dependent variables; and as co-variables: the wealth index, health insurance trend, sex, age, area of residence and natural region. Results: The secondary level of education of the head of the family presented a positive association with general tooth brushing (RPa: 1.04; 95% CI: 1.03-1.06; p<0.001) adjusted for the variable natural region, area of residence, place of residence, altitude, wealth index, health insurance, gender and age. Conclusion: There is a positive association between the secondary level of education of the head of the family and the general tooth brushing of children under 12 years of age in Peru, year 2022.
