Deterioro cognitivo-mnésico en pacientes sobrevivientes de COVID-19: una revisión sistemática

Abstract

Introducción: En marzo del 2020, la OMS declaró pandemia la infección por el virus SARS-CoV-2 llamado COVID-19. Las investigaciones reportaron síntomas que afectaban diversos dominios de funcionamiento físico, psiquiátrico y cognitivo. Por ello, el objetivo del presente estudio es sintetizar las evidencias disponibles en la literatura científica sobre el deterioro cognitivo mnésico manifestado en pacientes post COVID-19 durante los años 2021-2022. Método: Se realizó una revisión sistemática en las bases de datos de PubMed/Medline, ScienceDitect, PsycINFO/ESBOST HOT, EBMR (Cochrane Library), ProQuest, SCOPUS usando como estructura de la estrategia de búsqueda: Cognitive Dysfunction AND patients OR adult AND Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome OR Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection. Resultados: Se identificaron un total de 3528 artículos, de los cuales 13 cumplieron con los criterios de elección y conformaron la muestra. Los resultados evidencian un efecto negativo sobre los procesos cognitivos; sin embargo, por la heterogeneidad de los dominios analizados y que conforman los procesos cognitivos y la premura en que se realizaron las investigaciones los resultados no son concluyentes.

Introduction: In March 2020, the WHO declared infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus called COVID-19 a pandemic. The research reported symptoms affecting various domains of physical, psychiatric, and cognitive functioning. At the level of the latter, memory is a fundamental process for the performance of human activities. Therefore, the aim of this study is to synthesize the evidence available in the scientific literature on cognitive mnesic impairment manifested in post-COVID-19 patients during the years 2021-2022. Method: A systematic review was carried out in the databases of PubMed/Medline, ScienceDitect, PsycINFO/ESBOST HOT, EBMR (Cochrane Library), ProQuest, SCOPUS using as the structure of the search strategy: Cognitive Dysfunction AND patients OR adult AND Post-Acute COVID- 19 Syndrome OR Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection. Results: A total of 3528 articles were identified, of which 13 met the selection criteria and made up the sample. The results show a negative effect on cognitive processes; However, due to the heterogeneity of the domains analyzed and that make up the cognitive processes and the haste in which the research was carried out, the results are not conclusive.
