Cuidado humanizado de enfermería en pacientes con limitación del esfuerzo terapéutico en la unidad de cuidados intensivos

Abstract

Las unidades de cuidados intensivos son un área altamente tecnificado, en donde el profesional de salud busca salvaguardar la vida de la persona, sin embargo, en ocasiones a pesar de los esfuerzos extraordinarios que se realizan no es posible la recuperación del paciente, es allí donde según evaluaciones pertinentes deciden limitar esfuerzos terapéuticos. Objetivo: analizar la información sobre el cuidado humanizado de enfermería brindado a los pacientes con limitación del esfuerzo terapéutico en la unidad de cuidados intensivos. Metodología: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica en las bases de datos de: Scielo, Pubmed, Lilacs, Redalyc; asimismo, se indagó en la Revista de científica del Colegio Oficial de Enfermería de Valencia, Elsevier. Resultados: tras la búsqueda bibliográfica se seleccionaron 20 artículos científicos, comprendidos entre el 2014 -2021, se encontró que el cuidado que se brinda en pacientes con limitación del esfuerzo terapéutico es humanizado, las principales causas de limitación del esfuerzo terapéutico son calidad de vida del paciente, esfuerzos fútiles, mayor edad, etapa terminal o avanzada de la enfermedad y que no existen protocolos para la atención en pacientes con limitación del esfuerzo terapéutico. Conclusión: el cuidado de enfermería en pacientes con limitación del esfuerzo terapéutico debe continuar siendo humanizado, la enfermera es la principal defensora del paciente y más aun encontrándose muy vulnerable, por ello busca realzar su dignidad humana, garantizando que tenga una muerte digna y acompañada.

Intensive care units are a highly technical area, where the health professional seeks to safeguard the life of the person, however, sometimes despite the extraordinary efforts that are made, the recovery of the patient is not possible, it is there where according to pertinent evaluations they decide to limit therapeutic efforts. Objective: to analyze the information on humanized nursing care provided to patients with limited therapeutic effort in the intensive care unit. Methodology: a bibliographic review was carried out in the databases of: Scielo, Pubmed, Lilacs, Redalyc; likewise, the Scientific Journal of the Official College of Nursing of Valencia, Elsevier, was investigated. Results: after the bibliographic search, 20 scientific articles were selected, between 2014 -2021, it was found that the care provided in patients with limitation of therapeutic effort is humanized, the main causes of limitation of therapeutic effort are quality of life of the patient, futile efforts, older age, terminal or advanced stage of the disease and that there are no protocols for care in patients with limited therapeutic effort. Conclusion: nursing care in patients with limited therapeutic effort must continue to be humanized, the nurse is the main defender of the patient and even more so when she is very vulnerable, therefore she seeks to enhance her human dignity, guaranteeing that she has a dignified and accompanied death.
