Presencia de hemoparásitos en ranas del género Telmatobius decomisadas en el departamento de Lima, Perú

Abstract

Perú es un país megadiverso, ocupando el tercer puesto en diversidad de anfibios, sin embargo, el 21% de ellos están amenazados. Las ranas del género Telmatobius están en declive, siendo sus principales causas la pérdida de hábitat, el tráfico ilegal y las enfermedades. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la presencia de hemoparásitos en este grupo de anfibios. Se tomaron muestras de sangre de la vena abdominal ventral a 50 ranas del género Telmatobius decomisadas en la ciudad de Lima, con las que se realizaron un frotis sanguíneo por muestra/animal y se colorearon con tinción de Wright. Identificándose hemogregarinas del género Dactylosoma (familia Dactylosomatidae) en el 14% (n=7/50) de las muestras evaluadas; este estudio es el primer reporte de la presencia de un hemoparásito en el género Telmatobius.

Peru is a megadiverse country, ranking third in diversity of amphibians, however, 21% of them are threatened. Frogs of the genus Telmatobius are in decline, the main causes being habitat loss, illegal trafficking and disease. The objective of this study was to determine the presence of hemoparasites in this group of amphibians. Blood samples were taken from the ventral abdominal vein of 50 frogs of the genus Telmatobius seized in the city of Lima, with which a blood smear was made per sample / animal and stained with Wright's stain. Identifying hemogregarins of the genus Dactylosoma (family Dactylosomatidae) in 14% (n = 7/50) of the evaluated samples; this study is the first report of the presence of a haemoparasite in the genus Telmatobius.
