Cobertura de vacunación antirrábica en áreas rurales de la región Costa del Perú según la Encuesta Nacional de Programas Presupuestales 2021

Abstract

El objetivo del estudio fue estimar las coberturas de vacunación antirrábica en áreas rurales de la región costa del Perú a partir de la información obtenida de la Encuesta Nacional de Programas presupuestales (ENAPRES) desarrollada por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (INEI) en el año 2021. Se estimó que la media de canes por hogares entre pobladores de áreas rurales de los departamentos de la región costa del Perú alcanzó su mayor promedio para las zonas rurales costeñas de los departamentos de Lima (2.36) y Ancash (2.33) y se encontró la menor media para los departamentos de Cajamarca (1.73) y Lambayeque (1.81). Las prácticas de vacunación antirrábica entre pobladores de áreas rurales de los departamentos de la región costa en el 2021 alcanzó su mayor proporción entre propietarios de canes de los departamentos de Lima (62.1%), Ica (61.9%) y Arequipa (61.8%). La menor proporción se observó en las zonas rurales de los departamentos de la costa de la Libertad (29.2%) y Piura (28.7%). El estudio evidenció que la cobertura de canes vacunados contra la rabia fue mayor en las áreas rurales de los departamentos costeros de Lima e Ica (58.6% en cada uno) y en Arequipa (57.8%). En cambio, la menor proporción de animales vacunados se encontraron en los departamentos de Piura (24.3%), Tacna (27.7%), La Libertad (27.9%) y Cajamarca (29.8%). Se concluye que en todos los casos la cobertura de animales vacunados fue por debajo del 80%, que es lo que recomienda el Ministerio de Salud a fin de prevenir la diseminación de la rabia.

The objective of the study was to estimate the rabies vaccination coverage in rural areas of the coastal region of Peru based on information obtained from the National Survey of Budgetary Programs (ENAPRES) developed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the year 2021. It was estimated that the average number of dogs per household among residents of rural areas of the departments of the coastal region of Peru reached its highest average for the rural coastal areas of the departments of Lima (2.36) and Ancash (2.33) and was found the lowest mean for the departments of Cajamarca (1.73) and Lambayeque (1.81). The anti-rabies vaccination practices among residents of rural areas of the departments of the coastal region in 2021 achieved their highest proportion among sugarcane owners in the departments of Lima (62.1%), Ica (61.9%), and Arequipa (61.8%). The lowest proportion was found in the rural areas of the departments of the coast of Libertad (29.2%) and Piura (28.7%). The study showed that the coverage of dogs vaccinated against rabies was higher in the rural areas of the coastal departments of Lima and Ica (58.6% in each) and in Arequipa (57.8%). In contrast, the lowest proportion of vaccinated animals were found in the departments of Piura (24.3%), Tacna (27.7%), La Libertad (27.9%) and Cajamarca (29.8%). It is concluded that in all cases the coverage of vaccinated animals was below 80%, which is what the Ministry of Health recommends in order to prevent the spread of rabies.
