Impacto de la emergencia sanitaria por la pandemia COVID-19 sobre la captura y desembarque de anchoveta (Engraulis ringuens) en la zona norte y centro del Perú

Abstract

El objetivo del estudio fue describir el impacto de la emergencia sanitaria por la pandemia COVID-19 sobre la captura y desembarque de anchoveta (Engraulis ringens) en la zona norte y centro del Perú. Se colectaron bases de datos de volumen de pesca del Instituto del Mar del Perú (IMARPE), correspondientes a cuatro principales puertos pesqueros: Paita, Chicama (Norte), Chimbote y Callao (Centro), abarcando la pesca artesanal e industrial de enero 2016 a diciembre 2020. La información fue registrada en un formato Excel y analizada en una matriz, se aplicó estadística descriptiva mediante gráficos de tendencia. La captura y desembarque en la pesca artesanal de anchoveta presentaron una reducción significativa en los puertos de Callao, Chimbote y Paita en el año 2020 en relación a los años anteriores, el puerto de Chicama no presentó variación; por otro lado, la pesca industrial no evidenció variación en los puertos de Callao, Chimbote y Chicama, el puerto de Paita no registró capturas y desembarques desde el año 2018. Se concluye que la emergencia sanitaria frente al COVID-19 ha tenido un impacto negativo con los volúmenes de la pesca artesanal de anchoveta en la zona norte del Perú mas no en la pesca industrial.

The objective of the study was to describe the impact of the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on the capture and landing of anchovy (Engraulis ringens) in the north and center of Peru. Fishing volume databases were collected from the Peruvian Sea Institute (IMARPE), corresponding to four main fishing ports: Paita, Chicama (North), Chimbote and Callao (Center), covering artisanal and industrial fishing from January 2016 to December 2020. The information was recorded in an Excel format and analyzed in a matrix; descriptive statistics were applied using trend graphs. The capture and landing in the artisanal anchovy fishery showed a significant reduction in the ports of Callao, Chimbote and Paita in the year 2020 in relation to the previous years, the port of Chicama did not show variation; on the other hand, industrial fishing did not show variation in the ports of Callao, Chimbote and Chicama, the port of Paita did not record catches and landings since 2018. It is concluded that the health emergency against COVID-19 has had a negative impact with the volumes of artisanal anchovy fishing in the northern part of Peru but not in industrial fishing.
