Cambios faciales en tejidos blandos en pacientes con maloclusión clase III tratados con cirugía ortognática bimaxilar en el Servicio de Ortodoncia del Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia en el periodo 2015-2024

Abstract

Introducción: La cirugía ortognática es el procedimiento de mayor elección para la corrección de deformidades dentofaciales como la discrepancia severa de clase III que por lo general necesitan un tratamiento combinado de ortodoncia y cirugía ortognática lo cual permite estabilidad oclusal, así como mejoras significativas a nivel estético que influyen en elevar la autoestima y calidad de vida del paciente. Predecir los cambios posoperatorios en los tejidos blandos es un parte importante del proceso de planificación del tratamiento preoperatorio. Objetivo: Determinar los cambios faciales en tejidos blandos en pacientes con maloclusión clase III tratados con cirugía ortognática bimaxilar en el servicio de ortodoncia del Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia en el periodo 2015-2024. Materiales y métodos: Se realizará un estudio longitudinal y retrospectivo, se recogerá datos cuantitativos pre y post cirugía ortognática, la selección de la muestra será no probabilística, por conveniencia, se evaluará todas las radiografías cefalométricas pre y post cirugía ortognática de pacientes con maloclusión clase III tratados con cirugía bimaxilar del servicio de ortodoncia del Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia en el periodo 2015-2024, tomando en cuenta 6 variables: Ángulo de convexidad, ángulo nasolabial, línea de Epker, altura facial anterior, profundidad de surco mentolabial, ángulo cervicomental y una Co-variable de género. Conclusiones: Al realizar este estudio se podrá cuantificar la magnitud de dichos cambios y valorar si los resultados finales a nivel facial se encuentran dentro de los parámetros faciales clínicos aceptados.

Introduction: Orthognathic surgery is the procedure of choice for the correction of dentofacial deformities such as severe class III discrepancy, which generally require a combined treatment of orthodontics and orthognathic surgery, which allows occlusal stability, as well as significant aesthetic improvements. That influence raising the patient's self-esteem and quality of life. Predicting postoperative soft tissue changes is an important part of the preoperative treatment planning process. Objective: Determine the facial changes in soft tissues in patients with class III malocclusion treated with bimaxillary orthognathic surgery in the orthodontic service of the Teaching Dental Center of the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in the period 2015-2024. Materials and methods: A longitudinal and retrospective study will be carried out, quantitative data will be collected pre and post orthognathic surgery, the sample selection will be non-probabilistic, for convenience, all cephalometric radiographs pre and post orthognathic surgery of patients with class III malocclusion will be evaluated, treated with bimaxillary surgery from the orthodontic service of the Teaching Dental Center of the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in the period 2015-2024, taking into account 6 variables: Convexity angle, nasolabial angle, Epker line, anterior facial height, sulcus depth mentolabial, cervicomental angle and gender as co-variable. Conclusions: By carrying out this study, it will be possible to quantify the magnitude of these changes and assess whether the final facial results are within the accepted clinical facial parameters.
