Percepción de enfermeras en Lima sobre su rol en la prevención del sobrepeso y obesidad infantil

Abstract

Son escasas las investigaciones que abordan la percepción de las enfermeras sobre su rol en la prevención de sobrepeso y obesidad infantil. Objetivo: Describir y comprender la percepción de las enfermeras acerca de su rol en la prevención de la obesidad y el sobrepeso infantil de 1 a 5 años en el área de crecimiento y desarrollo (CRED). Materiales y métodos: Estudio de enfoque cualitativo, descriptivo. Se realizaron 10 entrevistas semiestructuradas mediante zoom y google meet, estas fueron grabadas con la finalidad de transcribir textualmente la información, codificarla y analizarla. Resultados: Los enfermeros percibieron el aumento de casos de sobrepeso u obesidad infantil, las funciones y valoración que realizan en estos niños, la importancia de la consejería nutricional e intervención en la alimentación familiar. También, que existen barreras y facilitadores que impiden o ayudan a realizar las intervenciones pertinentes a los casos que se presentan en el área de CRED. Conclusiones: Esta investigación cualitativa al estar enfocada en la percepción del profesional de enfermería ha permitido obtener información valiosa sobre los conocimientos y experiencias que han adquirido al atender a la población infantil con sobrepeso u obesidad.

There are few investigations that address the perception of nurses about their role in the prevention of childhood overweight and obesity. Objective: Describe and understand the perception of nurses about their role in the prevention of obesity and overweight in children from 1 to 5 years of age in the area of growth and development (CRED). Materials and methods: Study with a qualitative, descriptive approach. 10 in-depth interviews were conducted by zoom and google meet, these were recorded, in order to transcribe the information verbatim, encode it and analyze it. Results: Nurses perceived an increase in cases of childhood overweight or obesity, the importance of nutritional counseling and intervention in family feeding. Also, that there are barriers and facilitators that prevent or help to carry out the interventions pertinent to the cases that occur in the CRED area. Conclusions: This qualitative research, being focused on the perception of the nursing professional, has allowed us to obtain valuable information on the knowledge and experiences that they have acquired when caring for the child population with overweight or obesity.
