Adaptación universitaria y habilidades sociales en estudiantes del primer año de periodismo y comunicación audiovisual, Lima 2023

Abstract

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo general establecer la relación entre adaptación universitaria y habilidades sociales en estudiantes del primer año de periodismo y comunicación audiovisual, Lima 2023. Los objetivos específicos planteados son determinar la relación entre la adaptación universitaria y las dimensiones de las habilidades sociales. La metodología es de tipo descriptivo, nivel básico y diseño correlacional. La muestra elegida estuvo constituida por universitarios del primer año de estudios, de las carreras de periodismo y comunicación audiovisual, mayores de edad, que acepten voluntariamente participar en esta investigación y los instrumentos de recolección de datos son la versión reducida del Cuestionario de Vivencias Académicas (QVA–r) y la Escala de Habilidades Sociales EHS. Respecto a los resultados de esta investigación, mediante el estadístico de correlación de Spearman, se encontró que existe una correlación positiva y fuerte entre la adaptación universitaria y las habilidades sociales, lo que significa que aquellos estudiantes con mayor adaptación a la universidad, también poseerán mejores habilidades sociales; además, se encontró una correlación positiva y de fuerza moderada a fuerte entre la adaptación universitaria y tres de las dimensiones de habilidades sociales: Autoexpresión en situaciones sociales, Decir no y cortar interacción e Iniciar interacción con el sexo opuesto, con lo que se infiere que a mayor adaptación universitaria, el estudiante también logrará expresarse cómoda y correctamente frente a situaciones sociales, negarse ante peticiones o situaciones que no desea y hacer uso de destrezas para tomar la iniciativa en la interacción con el sexo opuesto respectivamente. Sin embargo, por otro lado, se encontró una correlación débil entre la adaptación universitaria y las dimensiones Defensa de los propios derechos como consumidor, Expresión de enfado y disconformidad y Hacer peticiones, lo que indica que la adaptación universitaria presenta un bajo grado de asociación con las mencionadas dimensiones de las habilidades sociales.

The general objective of this research is to establish the relationship between university adaptation and social skills in first-year journalism and audiovisual communication students, Lima 2023. The specific objectives set are to determine the relationship between university adaptation and the dimensions of social skills. The methodology is descriptive, basic level and correlational design. The chosen sample was made up of first-year university students, of journalism and audiovisual communication careers, of legal age, who voluntarily agree to participate in this research and the data collection instruments are the reduced version of the Academic Experiences Questionnaire (QVA-r) and the EHS Social Skills Scale. Regarding the results of this research, through Spearman's correlation statistic, it was found that there is a positive and strong correlation between university adaptation and social skills, which means that those students with greater adaptation to the university will also have better social skills; In addition, a positive correlation of moderate to strong strength was found between university adjustment and three of the social skills dimensions: Self-expression in social situations, Saying no and cutting off interaction, and Initiating interaction with the opposite sex, which infers that the greater the university adjustment, the more likely the student is to express himself or herself comfortably and correctly in social situations, say no to requests or situations that he or she does not want, and use skills to take the initiative in interacting with the opposite sex, respectively. However, on the other hand, a weak correlation was found between university adaptation and the dimensions Defending one's rights as a consumer, Expressing anger and disagreement and Making requests, which indicates that university adaptation has a low degree of association with the aforementioned dimensions of social skills.
