Primera visita dental de niños del Programa Control de Crecimiento y Desarrollo (CRED) del Centro de Salud Yugoslavia - Nuevo Chimbote (Ancash), durante los años 2017 - 2019

Abstract

Los organismos mundiales de salud bucal resaltan la importancia de una visita dental durante el primer año de vida. Pese a ello, su implementación no se da universalmente. En Perú, se desconoce la edad en la que realmente ocurre. Objetivo: Determinar las caracteristicas de la primera visita dental de niños del Programa Control de Crecimiento y Desarrrollo (CRED) del Centro de Salud (CS) Yugoslavia-Nuevo Chimbote (Áncash), durante los años 2017 – 2019. Materiales y métodos: Estudio transversal, observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo. Se evaluaron las historias clínicas de niños que acudieron a sus controles de CRED en el CS Yugoslavia en Nuevo Chimbote, entre los años 2017 al 2019, que cumplieron con los criterios de selección. Resultados: Fueron incluidas 1383 historias clínicas. El 21.6% de niños cuyas historias fueron evaluadas contaban con primera visita dental; de ellos, sólo el 7.2% tuvieron su primera visita dental durante el primer año de vida. La edad más frecuente de la primera visita fue entre los 0 y 24 meses (67.8%) y la razón más frecuente fue el chequeo (74.6%). Conclusión: Existe una gran ausencia de primera visita dental durante los primeros años de vida, sólo el 7.2% de niños tuvieron su primera visita dental durante el primer año de vida.

World oral health organizations highlight the importance of a dental visit during the first year of life, despite this, its implementation is not universally. In Peru, the age at which it occurs is unknown. Objective: To determine the characteristics of the first dental visit of the children of the of the Growth and Development Control Program (CRED) of the Health Center (CS) Yugoslavia-Nuevo Chimbote (Ancash), during the years 2017 - 2019. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional, observational, descriptive, and retrospective study. The medical histories of children who attended their CRED controls at the C.S. Yugoslavia in Nuevo Chimbote, between the years 2017 to 2019 that met the selection criteria. Results: 1383 clinical histories were included. 21.6% of children whose histories were evaluated had a first dental visit; of them, only 7.2% had their first dental visit during the first year of life. The most frequent age of their first visit was between 0 to 24 months (67.8%) and the most frequent reason was the check-up (74.6%). Conclusion: There is a great lack of first dental visit during the first years of life, only the 7.2% of children had their first dental visit during the first year of life.
