Efectividad de un protector de lúmenes del catéter venoso central en un Servicio de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos

Abstract

The research project arises when observing the insufficient protection of the lumens of the CVC central venous catheter by the protector often used in the services; which ends up leaving the lumens to the environment despite using adhesive tape, in front of which a central venous catheter lumens protector is created that fulfills its objective: the protection of the CVC lumens; the present study aims to determine the effectiveness of a lumen protector of the central venous catheter in a pediatric intensive care service. The study is quantitative, the analytical level, quasiexperimental and cross-sectional design. The population will be made up of the total of protectors used during the month of July, which according to statistics from the cardiovascular ICU service of the National Institute of Children's Health San Borja are estimated at 420 protectors (since 14 patients with CVC are treated daily) and the sample will consist of 116 protectors, of which 58 will be the conventional protectors and 58 will be the proposed protectors, these protectors will be selected by means of a non-probability sampling. To determine the effectiveness of the lumen protector, the Chi-square statistical test will be used and work will be carried out at a statistical significance level of 0.05. The results will be presented in tables and graphs. The effectiveness of the protector demonstrated by the study will allow us to have a material that contributes to the safety in the care of the central catheters.

El proyecto de investigación surge al observar la insuficiente protección de los lúmenes del catéter venoso central CVC por el protector de uso frecuente en los servicios; el cual termina dejando al medio ambiente los lúmenes a pesar de usar esparadrapo, frente a lo cual se crea un protector de lúmenes de catéter venoso central que cumpla con su objetivo: la protección de los lúmenes del CVC; el presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar la efectividad de un protector de lúmenes del catéter venoso central en un servicio de cuidados intensivos pediátricos. El estudio es de tipo cuantitativo, el diseño de nivel analítico, cuasiexperimental y de corte transversal. La población estará compuesta por el total de protectores utilizados durante el mes de junio que según estadísticas del servicio de UCI cardiovascular del Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño San Borja se estiman en 420 protectores (ya que se atienden 14 pacientes portadores de CVC diariamente) y la muestra estará constituida por 116 protectores, de los cuales 58 serán los protectores convencionales y 58 serán los protectores propuestos, estos protectores serán seleccionados mediante un muestreo no probabilístico. Para determinar la efectividad del protector de lúmenes, se utilizará la prueba estadística Chi cuadrado y se trabajará a un nivel de significancia estadístico de 0.05. Los resultados se presentarán en tablas y gráficas. La efectividad del protector demostrada por el estudio permitirá contar con un material que contribuya a la seguridad en el cuidado de los catéteres centrales.
