“Determinación del menoscabo por enfermedades de origen ocupacional del sistema nervioso periférico”

Abstract

Las enfermedades ocupacionales de origen en el sistema nervioso periférico se presentan cuando existen anomalías funcionales o estructurales en nervios craneales o espinales causadas durante el ejercicio de una actividad laboral; este sistema, en particular, es susceptible a daño químico y estructural (agentes físicos y químicos) (1,2). Las actividades laborales que predisponen a esta afección tienen como característica la repetición de movimiento durante la jornada de trabajo (3)En Perú, las patologías del sistema nervioso periférico están incluidas en la “Norma técnica de salud que establece el listado de enfermedades profesionales” (4); la incapacidad funcional en estas afecciones se expresa mediante el menoscabo de un impedimento en una clase funcional que impacta en su vida laboral (5). El identificar el menoscabo en este tipo de patologías es importante para las disposiciones de prestaciones por enfermedad ocupacional, así como para los programas de prevención empresarial. En este contexto, se efectuará una revisión documental de información legislativa y científica sobre el tema, utilizando revistas indexadas, guías de práctica clínica y normativa nacional e internacional sobre el tema. Se incluirán archivos de los últimos 10 años, que contengan información sobre menoscabo por enfermedades ocupacionales del sistema nervioso periférico, epidemiologia, valoración del daño e incapacidad funcional en pares craneales, plexo cervical y braquial, así como en plexo lumbar y sacro; también sobre el proceso de reubicación o readaptación laboral. Se emplearán los operadores boleanos AND y OR, para mejorar la búsqueda de información. Finalmente, el estudio presenta información actual sobre el menoscabo por enfermedades ocupacionales del sistema nervioso periférico, lo que contribuye a llenar el vacío de conocimiento existente sobre el tema; además presenta un enfoque clínico y normativo que enriquece los conocimientos que se tienen al respecto que puede contribuir con los programas preventivos institucionales y con el manejo precoz de estas afecciones.

Occupational diseases originating in the peripheral nervous system occur when there are functional or structural abnormalities in cranial or spinal nerves caused during the exercise of a work activity; this system, in particular, is susceptible to chemical and structural damage (physical and chemical agents) (1,2). The work activities that predispose to this condition are characterized by the repetition of movement during the work day (3).In Peru, pathologies of the peripheral nervous system are included in the “Technical health standard that establishes the list of occupational diseases” (3); functional incapacity in these conditions is expressed through the impairment of an impediment in a functional class that impacts on one's work life (5). Identifying impairment in this type of pathology is important for the provisions of benefits for occupational diseases, as well as for company prevention programsIn this context, a documentary review of legislative and scientific information on the subject will be carried out, using indexed journals, clinical practice guides and national and international regulations on the subject. Files from the last 10 years will be included, containing information on impairment due to occupational diseases of the peripheral nervous system, epidemiology, assessment of damage and functional disability in cranial nerves, cervical and brachial plexuses, as well as in the lumbar and sacral plexuses; also on the process of relocation or job readaptation. The Boolean operators AND and OR will be used to improve the search for information.Finally, the study presents current information on impairment due to occupational diseases of the peripheral nervous system, which contributes to filling the gap inexisting knowledge on the subject; it also presents a clinical and normative approach that enriches the knowledge that exists on this subject and can contribute to institutional preventive programs and the early management of these conditions.
