Nivel de conocimientos de los padres respecto a las pastas dentales fluoradas en el Departamento de Odontopediatría del Hospital Militar Central Lima- 2020

Abstract

Las pastas dentales fluoradas se han convertido en la forma más eficaz de prevención por tener un efecto en el control de la caries y está recomendado como parte de las medidas preventivas para mantener la buena salud bucal. Por lo tanto, es necesario que los padres conozcan los beneficios de las pastas fluoradas, ya que se ha evidenciado que existe una asociación directa entre el conocimiento de los padres y las actitudes del niño. El estudio es de tipo descriptivo, prospectivo y transversal. Una vez obtenida la autorización, se procedió a realizar la encuesta sobre pastas dentales. La encuesta realizada en nuestro estudio fue utilizada en el Perú por Mattos M. y adaptada utilizando ocho preguntas del cuestionario sobre el nivel de conocimiento acerca del flúor. La validación del instrumento se realizó por un juicio de expertos y la respectiva prueba piloto, para evaluar la confiabilidad interna se obtuvo el índice de Kuder Richardson con 0,99. Previamente se le informó a cada padre la importancia de participar en el estudio y los beneficios que se obtendrían. El análisis estadístico descriptivo se realizó con el programa Microsoft Excel y se presenta de acuerdo a los resultados obtenidos. Por ello, el objetivo de este trabajo de investigación es determinar el nivel de conocimiento de los padres respecto a las pastas dentales fluoradas en el Departamento de Odontopediatría del Hospital Militar Central.

Fluoridated toothpastes have become the most effective form of prevention because they have an effect on caries control and are recommended as part of preventive measures to maintain good oral health. Therefore, it is necessary for parents to know the benefits of fluoridated pastes, since it has been shown that there is a direct association between the knowledge of the parents and the attitudes of the child. The study is descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional. Once authorization was obtained, the survey on toothpastes was carried out. The survey carried out in our study was used in Peru by Mattos M. and adapted using eight questions from the questionnaire on the level of knowledge about fluoride. The validation of the instrument was carried out by an expert judgment and the respective pilot test, to evaluate the internal reliability, the Kuder Richardson index was obtained with 0.99. Each parent was previously informed of the importance of participating in the study and the benefits to be obtained. The descriptive statistical analysis was carried out with the Microsoft Excel program and is presented according to the results obtained. Therefore, the objective of this research work is to determine the level of knowledge of parents regarding fluoridated toothpastes in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry of the Central Military Hospital.
