Evidencia científica de la efectividad del método madre canguro en ganancia de peso del recién nacido prematuro en unidades de cuidados intensivos neonatales

Abstract

En la actualidad, la prematurez y bajo peso en los recién nacidos, es uno de los motivos más frecuentes de ingreso a las Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales (UCIN) y una de las principales razones de morbimortalidad en este grupo de neonatos, es por ello que numerosos estudios demuestran que el Método Madre Canguro que se aplican en este grupo etario ayuda mejorar en el incremento de peso. Objetivo. Describir la evidencia científica de la efectividad método madre canguro en ganancia de peso en recién nacidos prematuro en las unidades de cuidados Intensivos Neonatales. Método. El diseño del estudio es una revisión bibliográfica. Se seleccionaron 30 artículos de investigación originales de enfoque cuantitativo, entre los años 2018-2023 en idioma inglés, español y portugués e inglés. La búsqueda de los artículos se realizó, con las palabras claves: Método de la Madre Canguro, Prematuro y peso al nacer, así como los operadores booleanos “and” y “or” en las bases de datos electrónicas tales como PubMed (46%), Google académico (23 %), Lilacs (14%), Scielo (14 %) y Science Direct (3%). Conclusiones. El método Mama Canguro influye positivamente en el vínculo afectivo y apego, también favorece la lactancia materna la alimentación y nutrición del recién nacido pretérmino, en consecuencia, ayuda al incremento de peso, esto a su vez influye en que la estancia hospitalaria sea menos en este grupo etario en las unidades de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales.

Currently, prematurity and low weight in newborns is one of the most frequent reasons for admission to the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) and one of the main reasons for morbidity and mortality in this group of newborns, which is why that numerous studies show that the Kangaroo Mother Method applied in this age group helps improve weight gain. Objective. Describe the scientific evidence of the effectiveness of the kangaroo mother method in weight gain in premature newborns in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Method. The study design is a bibliographic review. 30 research articles were selected, including original articles with a quantitative approach, from the years 2018-2023 in English, Spanish, Portuguese and English. The search for the articles was carried out, with the keywords, Kangaroo Mother Care, premature and Birth weight, as well as the Boolean operators "and" and "or" in the electronic databases: PubMed (46%), Google Scholar (23 %), Lilacs (14%), Scielo (14%) and Science Direct (3%). Conclusions. The Kangaroo Mother method positively influences the emotional bond and attachment, breastfeeding also favors feeding and nutrition of the preterm newborn, consequently, it helps weight gain, this in turn influences the hospital stay being less in this case. age group in Neonatal Intensive Care units
