Características clínicas en pacientes con diagnóstico de edéntulo total en el Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia en el 2023

Abstract

Introducción: El edentulismo representa el estado final de la morbilidad de las enfermedades que afectan a la cavidad bucal, la identificación de las características clínicas más relevantes del edéntulo total, va a permitir un adecuado diagnóstico y plan de tratamiento, pilares que contribuirán al bienestar y satisfacción de los pacientes. Objetivo: Determinar las características clínicas en pacientes con diagnóstico de edéntulo Total atendidos en el Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia en el año 2023. Materiales y métodos: El presente estudio será de tipo descriptivo, retrospectivo, observacional y transversal, la población serán las historias clínicas virtuales de pacientes con diagnóstico de edéntulo total atendidos en el Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia en el año 2023, al no haber una muestra la selección será no probabilística, se han considerado como variables: la alteración de la dimensión vertical, el tipo de perfil , el tipo de arco, el tamaño y forma de reborde, el tejido muscular, el trastorno de la articulación temporomandibular , la edad y sexo. Se usará la prueba estadística Chi cuadrado. Se obtendrá un nivel de confianza de 95%. Conclusiones: El presente estudio va a contribuir en validar la importancia de identificar las características clínicas más importantes del edéntulo total lo que permitirá brindarles a los pacientes un tratamiento rehabilitador adecuado mejorando el bienestar y calidad de vida.

Introduction: Edentulism represents the final state of morbidity of diseases that affect the oral cavity, the identification of the most relevant clinical characteristics of the completely edentulous person will allow an adequate diagnosis and treatment plan, pillars that will contribute to the well-being and satisfaction of the patients. Objective: To determine the clinical characteristics in patients with a diagnosis of Total Edentulousness treated at the Teaching Dental Center of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in the year 2023. Materials and methods: The present study will be descriptive, retrospective, observational and cross-sectional, the population will be the virtual medical records of patients with a diagnosis of total edentulousness treated at the Teaching Dental Center of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in the year 2023. Since there is no sample, the selection will be non-probabilistic. The variables have been considered: the alteration of the vertical dimension, type of profile, type of arch, size and shape of ridge, muscle tissue, temporomandibular joint disorder, age and sex. The Chi square statistical test will be used. A confidence level of 95% will be obtained. Conclusions: The present study will contribute to validating the importance of identifying the most important clinical characteristics of the completely edentulous, which will allow patients to be provided with adequate rehabilitative treatment, improving well-being and quality of life.
