Frecuencia del tipo de tratamiento de fracturas de arco cigomático en pacientes atendidos en el Hospital Cayetano Heredia, 2022 - 2025

Abstract

Introducción: Las fracturas aisladas de arco cigomático conforman un porcentaje bajo del total de fracturas del macizo facial, pero generan grandes problemas estéticos y pueden incluso provocar problemas funcionales al paciente. El cirujano oral y maxilofacial deberá diagnosticar que estructura del arco es la que está comprometida para poder realizar un tratamiento efectivo que no perjudique otras áreas anatómicas importantes, también evaluar los riesgos al hacer este tipo de procedimientos. Objetivo: Determinar la frecuencia del tipo de tratamiento de fracturas de arco cigomático en pacientes atendidos en el hospital Cayetano Heredia, 2022 – 2025. Materiales y métodos: El estudio será transversal, retrospectivo. La población estará constituida por pacientes adultos atendidos en el Hospital Cayetano Heredia en el servicio de Cirugía Oral y Maxilofacial, 2022 - 2025 que hayan presentado fracturas de arco cigomático. Las variables serán edad, sexo, tipo de tratamiento y zona afectada. Conclusiones: Este estudio ayudará a determinar cuál es el mejor tratamiento para fracturas de arco cigomático según el área afectada.

Introduction: Isolated zygomatic arch fractures account for a small percentage of all facial fractures, but they pose significant aesthetic and can even cause functional problems for the patient. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons must diagnose which arch structure is compromised in order to perform effective treatment that does not harm other important anatomical areas. They must also assess the risks associated with performing this type of procedure. Objective: To determine the frequency of treatment for zygomatic arch fractures in patients treated at Cayetano Heredia Hospital, 2022–2025. Materials and methods: This will be a cross-sectional, retrospective study. The population will consist of adult patients treated at Cayetano Heredia Hospital in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, 2022–2025, who have presented with zygomatic arch fractures. The variables will be age, sex, type of treatment, and affected area. Conclusions: This study will help determine the best treatment for zygomatic arch fractures based on the affected area.
