Asociación entre el uso de pasta dental y nivel educativo del jefe de familia de hogares con niños menores de 12 años en Perú, 2021

Abstract

Antecedentes: El uso de pasta dental es clave para prevenir y mantener la salud oral de los niños. Objetivo: Determinar la asociación entre el uso de pasta dental y nivel educativo del jefe de familia de hogares con niños menores de 12 años en Perú, 2021. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio transversal, cuya población estuvo comprendida por 42 115 registros de niños menores de 12 años de la base de la ENDES en el año 2021. La muestra final recopilo 27 910 registros. Las variables fueron uso de pasta dental y nivel educativo del jefe de familia de hogares con niños menores de 12 años en Perú, 2021. Resultados: Se encontró asociación negativa entre el nivel educativo del jefe de familia con nivel superior respecto del uso de pasta dental de mínimo 1000ppm (RPa=0.96, IC95 %: 0.91-0.98, p=0.046) ajustado por región natural, área de residencia, lugar de residencia, edad e índice de riqueza. Conclusión: Existe asociación entre el uso de pasta dental y nivel educativo del jefe de familia de hogares de niños peruanos en el 2021.

Background: The use of toothpaste is key to prevent and maintain children's oral health. Objective: To determine the association between the use of toothpaste and the educational level of the head of the household with children under 12 years of age in Peru, 2021. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study. The population was present for 42,115 records of children under 12 years of age from the ENDES database in 2021. The final sample collected 27,910 records. The variables were use of toothpaste and educational level of the household head of households with children under 12 years of age in Peru, 2021. Results: A negative association was found between the educational level of the head of the family with a higher level regarding the use of toothpaste of at least 1000ppm (RPa=0.96, 95% CI: 0.91-0.98, p=0.046) adjusted by natural region, area of residence, place of residence, age and wealth index. Conclusion: There is an association between the use of toothpaste and the educational level of the head of the family of homes for Peruvian children in 2021.
