Concepciones del cáncer de cuello uterino en mujeres de la comunidad Shipibo-Konibo de Cantagallo en el contexto urbano: un estudio cualitativo Lima, 2025

Abstract

Antecedentes: El cáncer de cuello uterino mantiene alta carga en el país y afecta de manera desigual a poblaciones indígenas urbanas. En Cantagallo, las mujeres Shipibo-Konibo presentan condiciones socioculturales particulares que pueden influir en sus concepciones sobre esta enfermedad, pero existe escasa evidencia cualitativa al respecto. Objetivos: Analizar las concepciones del cáncer de cuello uterino en mujeres Shipibo-Konibo residentes en Cantagallo, Lima. Identificar los significados atribuidos a la enfermedad, describir los elementos culturales vinculados a dichas concepciones e interpretar su relación con el contexto urbano y el sistema de salud. Materiales y métodos: Estudio cualitativo fenomenológico-interpretativo con análisis hermenéutico, con muestreo intencional de mujeres Shipibo-Konibo entre 18 y 65 años sin diagnóstico previo de cáncer de cuello uterino. Se utilizarán entrevistas semiestructuradas y a profundidad. El análisis será hermenéutico, mediante codificación inductiva en ATLAS.ti y triangulación entre investigadores. Se aplicarán criterios de rigor cualitativo y se seguirán principios éticos de confidencialidad y respeto intercultural. Conclusiones: Se proyecta que el estudio identificará concepciones del cáncer de cuello uterino vinculadas a su gravedad, a la vida sexual y reproductiva, a explicaciones morales y espirituales y a elementos de la cosmovisión Shipibo-Konibo, incluyendo la medicina tradicional.

Background: Cervical cancer remains a significant public health burden in Peru and disproportionately affects indigenous urban populations. In Cantagallo, Shipibo-Konibo women experience particular sociocultural conditions that may influence their conceptions of the disease; however, qualitative evidence on this topic is limited. Objectives: To analyze the conceptions of cervical cancer among Shipibo-Konibo women residing in Cantagallo, Lima; to identify the meanings attributed to the disease; to describe the cultural elements associated with these conceptions; and to interpret their relationship with the urban context and the health system. Materials and Methods: Qualitative phenomenological-interpretive study with hermeneutic analysis, with intentional sampling of Shipibo-Konibo women aged 18 to 65 years, with no prior diagnosis of cervical cancer. Data collection will consist of semistructured interviews. Analysis will follow a hermeneutic approach using inductive coding in ATLAS.ti and triangulation among researchers. Qualitative rigor criteria will be applied, and ethical principles of confidentiality and intercultural respect will be ensured. Conclusions: The study is expected to identify conceptions of cervical cancer linked to its severity, sexual and reproductive life, moral and spiritual explanations, and elements of the Shipibo-Konibo worldview, including traditional medicine.
