Síndrome de burnout en enfermeras del área COVID del Hospital Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen, Lima 2020

Abstract

El cuidado de los pacientes del área de COVID-19 requiere de atención constante por parte del personal de enfermería para responder de forma adecuada a cada caso. Esto requiere que el personal se encuentre en constante estado de alerta, así como capacidad de tolerancia al sufrimiento, agonía y muerte de los pacientes que no logran recuperarse. Esta condición laboral predispone al personal a la condición de síndrome de Burnout, o desgaste ocupacional, la cual tiene como características el desgaste emocional, despersonalización y pérdida de eficacia profesional. Si bien existen estudios sobre el estrés laboral en profesionales de enfermería, existen limitadas investigaciones en el contexto de pandemia. Por tal motivo, el objetivo del presente proyecto de investigación es determinar el nivel de Síndrome de Burnout en las enfermeras del área de Emergencia de COVID-19 del Hospital Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen, Lima-2020. El presente estudio tendrá un enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel descriptivo, diseño no experimental y de corte transversal. Para la recolección de información se utilizará la técnica de encuesta mediante el instrumento de cuestionario Inventario de Burnout de Maslach (MBI), el cual se aplicará a todo el personal de enfermería de dicha área, obteniendo una muestra censal de 50 enfermeras. Los datos serán tabulados en hojas de cálculo del software Microsoft Excel y el análisis estadístico se realizará mediante el programa SPSS statistics versión 25.

The care of patients in the COVID-19 area requires constant attention from the nursing staff to respond appropriately to each case. This requires staff to be in a constant state of alert, as well as the ability to tolerate the suffering, agony, and death of patients who fail to recover. This labor condition predisposes the staff to the condition of Burnout syndrome, or occupational exhaustion, which has as its characteristics emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and loss of professional effectiveness. Although there are studies on work stress in nursing professionals, there is limited research in the context of a pandemic. For this reason, the objective of this research project is to determine the level of Burnout Syndrome in nurses in the COVID-19 Emergency area of the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital, Lima-2020. This study will have a quantitative approach, descriptive level, non- experimental and cross-sectional design. For the collection of information, the survey technique will be used through the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire instrument, which will be applied to all nursing staff in said area, obtaining a census sample of 50 nurses. The data will be tabulated in Microsoft Excel software spreadsheets and the statistical analysis will be performed using the SPSS statistics version 25 program.
