Estigma social experimentado por familiares de personas con trastorno del espectro autista

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se realizó una revisión bibliográfica de las principales investigaciones sobre el estigma social experimentado por familiares de menores con Trastorno del Espectro Autista. El estigma social se define como las actitudes, estereotipos y prejuicios que presenta un grupo dominante hacia a un individuo que es desacreditado o etiquetado por tener características a nivel físico, psicológico y social. Por ello, se planteó como objetivo general: Analizar investigaciones acerca de los estigmas sociales experimentados en familias de personas con Trastorno del Espectro Autista durante los 10 últimos años a nivel internacional y nacional. Para lograrlo, se realizó el proceso de búsqueda en base de datos científicas como Pubmed, Scielo, Alicia Concytec y Psycnet, evidenciando 20 estudios que satisfacen los criterios de inclusión para la investigación, 11 artículos con enfoque metodológico cuantitativo, 8 de carácter cualitativo y 1 mixto. Se analizaron teorías y enfoques en torno al tema de estudio, asimismo, se revisaron los estudios de diferentes autores como Goffman, Corrigan y Phelan, Mak y Wok, así como Kinnear, a fin de cumplir los objetivos establecidos.

In the present work, a bibliographic review of the main investigations on the social stigma experienced by relatives of a minor with Autism Spectrum Disorder was carried out. Social stigma was defined as the attitudes, stereotypes and prejudices that a dominant group presents against an individual who is discredited or labeled for having physical, psychological and social characteristics. For this reason, the general objective was: To analyze research about the social stigmas experienced in families of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder during the last 10 years at the international and national level. To achieve this, the search process was carried out in scientific databases such as Pubmed, Scielo, Alicia Concytec and Psycnet, showing 20 studies that meet the inclusion criteria for the research, 11 articles with a quantitative methodological approach, 8 qualitative and 1 mixed. Theories and approaches around the subject of study were analyzed, likewise, the studies of different authors such as Goffman, Corrigan and Phelan, Mak and Wok, as well as Kinnear, were reviewed in order to meet the established objectives.
