Klebsiella pneumoniae is a nosocomial pathogen with pandemic lineages threatening public health worldwide. Extended-spectrum B-lactamase (ESBL)- producing K. pneumoniae belonging to sequence type 307(ST307) is an emerging global clone affecting both human and animal health. Klebsiella pneumoniae ST307 is endemic in high-income countries including Italy and the USA, but also in low-income countries such as Colombia, with recent rapid expansions to neighbouring countries.
