El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la prevalencia de determinantes sociales asociados a la persistencia del ciclo biológico de la Taenia solium en poblaciones con antecedentes de cisticercosis porcina en la región andina del Perú. La investigación fue de tipo descriptiva, observacional y retrospectiva utilizando información del Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (Censo Nacional Agropecuario del 2018 y Censo Nacional de Población y Vivienda del 2017) y la revisión sistemática literaria de estudios epidemiológicos sobre cisticercosis porcina en la región andina. Se encontró 9 estudios epidemiológicos de cisticercosis cuya prevalencia se encontraba entre 26.5% y 72.3%. La tenencia de cerdos fue de 1 a 35 animales por criador y la comercialización se realizaba predominantemente en la vivienda (14.3 a 92.3%). Las viviendas eran mayormente independientes, predominaba el servicio de agua de red pública y la cobertura de alcantarillado era menor al 50% en la mayoría de lugares en donde predominaba el uso de pozo ciego o negro. La mayoría de viviendas tenían suelo de tierra y el tipo de energía o combustible más utilizados eran los clasificados como contaminantes (leña o bosta). El estudio demostró que los determinantes sociales que favorecen la presentación de la cisticercosis porcina se han mantenido en el tiempo, siendo necesario que las autoridades decidan enfrentar el déficit de servicios básicos en estas poblaciones endémicas e híper endémicas a cisticercosis, además de desarrollar programas educativos y de difusión a fin de que la población se encuentre informada acerca de la forma de transmisión y medidas de prevención de esta enfermedad, en tanto no exista un programa de control nacional.The objective of the study was to evaluate the prevalence of social determinants associated with the persistence of the biological cycle of Taenia solium in populations with a history of porcine cysticercosis in the Andean region of Peru. The research was descriptive, observational and retrospective using information from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (National Agricultural Census of 2018 and National Population and Housing Census of 2017) and the systematic literary review of epidemiological studies on porcine cysticercosis in the Andean region. Nine epidemiological studies of cysticercosis were found whose prevalence was between 26.5% and 72.3%. Pig ownership ranged from 1 to 35 animals per breeder and marketing was predominantly done at home (14.3 to 92.3%). The houses were mostly independent, the public water service predominated and the sewage coverage was less than 50% in most places where the use of blind or cesspit prevailed. Most homes had dirt floors and the most used type of energy or fuel was classified as polluting (firewood or dung). The study showed that the social determinants that favor the presentation of swine cysticercosis have been maintained over time, making it necessary for the authorities to decide to face the deficit of basic services in these endemic and hyper-endemic populations to cysticercosis, in addition to developing educational programs and so that the population is informed about the form of transmission and prevention measures for this disease, as long as there is no national control program.
