La infección por el virus del SARS-CoV 2, causante de la enfermedad COVID-19, se caracteriza por un proceso inflamatorio generalizado, puede complicar el estado clínico del paciente y llevarlo a la muerte. Objetivo: Relacionar la severidad de la neumonía por SARS-CoV 2 (SCORE CXR), con el valor de glicemia de ingreso en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Método: Estudio observacional, de cohorte retrospectivo, evaluando la totalidad de pacientes ingresados en el servicio de Medicina Interna/Unidad de COVID, Hospitalización con diabetes tipo 2 y neumonía por COVID-19, durante el periodo marzo – septiembre 2021. Resultados: El 62,9% de los pacientes presentó una glucemia alterada con una media de 242,1368. Así mismo se evidencia que el Score CXR fue menor, en los sujetos con glicemia normal al momento del ingreso frente a aquellos que estuvo alterada (P0.05), sin embargo, el control metabólico evaluado a través de la hemoglobina glicosilada, no tuvo significancia en la puntuación de Score CXR. Aunque el grupo de los severos, si estuvo discretamente mayor.
