dc.description.abstract	Antecedentes: La muerte materna (MM) sigue siendo un problema de salud pública que afecta a todo el mundo, del cual nuestro país no es ajeno. Hasta el 2020, Perú reducía anualmente su número de muertes maternas, sin embargo, esta cifra incrementó por la pandemia del COVID-19. Objetivos: Describir las características de muerte materna en el Hospital Cayetano Heredia (HCH) en el periodo enero 2018 - diciembre 2021. Materiales y Métodos: Se realiza un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo observacional tipo Serie de Casos, basado en el Sistema Informático Perinatal del Servicio de Ginecología y Obstetricia, historias clínicas, reportes de auditoría y fichas de investigación de muerte materna en el Hospital Cayetano Heredia. Se describe a las gestantes hospitalizadas en el período 2018-2021 con diagnóstico de egreso de muerte materna y se calcula la Razón de Muerte Materna en el período de estudio. Resultados: Se encontraron 13 casos de muerte materna entre 2018-2021, con el número de nacidos vivos se calculó la RMM en 68 muertes maternas por cada 100 000 nacidos vivos. El principal tipo de muerte fue indirecta con 69,3% (9 casos), la principal causa de muerte fue COVID-19 con 30,8% (4 casos). La muerte directa representó 30,8% (4 casos) siendo la causa más frecuente aborto séptico. Conclusiones: Se evidenció una fluctuación del número de muertes maternas y de la RMM por año, donde se evidencio una abrupta alza en los casos durante el año 2019, donde se distribuye por igual las MM directas e indirectas, y 2020 donde solo hubo casos de MM indirecta influenciado por la pandemia de COVID19.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	Background: Maternal death continues to be a public health problem that affects the entire world, of which our country is no stranger. Until 2020, Peru annually reduced its number of maternal deaths, however, this number increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Objectives: to describe the characteristics of maternal death at Hospital Cayetano Heredia (HCH) in the period January 2018 - December 2021. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, retrospective, observational Case Series study is carried out based on the Perinatal Information System of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Service, medical records, audit reports and investigation sheets of maternal death from Hospital Cayetano Heredia. A description of the pregnant women hospitalized in the period 2018-2021 with a diagnosis of discharge of maternal death is made and the Maternal Mortality Ratio is calculated. Results: A total of 13 cases of maternal death were found between 2018-2021, with the number of live births, the MMR was calculated at 68 maternal deaths per 100 000 live births. The main type of death was indirect with 69,3% (9 cases), the main cause of death was COVID-19 with 30,8% (4 cases). Direct death represented 30,8% (4 cases), the most frequent cause being septic abortion. Conclusions: A fluctuation in the number of maternal deaths and the maternal mortality ratio per year was evidenced, where there was an abrupt rise in the cases during the year 2019, where the direct and indirect MM were distributed equally, and 2020 where there were only cases of indirect MM influenced by the COVID19 pandemic.	es_ES
