dc.description.abstract	Introducción: La diabetes mellitus (DM) es una enfermedad crónica que predispone al desarrollo de infecciones, como las infecciones del tracto urinario (ITU), que puede suponer un factor crítico en estos pacientes. Aunque la alteración en el perfil metabólico y la presencia de complicaciones micro y macrovasculares sugieren mal manejo de la enfermedad, el Perú cuenta con escasos estudios que analicen y describan las características clínicas de estos pacientes y su relación con el desarrollo de infecciones urinarias cuando se encuentran hospitalizados. Objetivo: Determinar el perfil clínico y microbiológico de las infecciones del tracto urinario en pacientes con diabetes mellitus hospitalizados en el Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza durante el periodo 2022 al 2024. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, observacional, retrospectivo, de corte transversal. Se seleccionarán a pacientes hospitalizados mayores de 18 años con diagnóstico de DM e infección de tracto urinario del servicio de Medicina Interna del Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza durante el periodo 2022 al 2024 que cumplan los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Los datos serán obtenidos de la Oficina de Estadística e Informática del HNAL, recolectados mediante una ficha de datos para ingresarlos a una base de datos con las iniciales de cada paciente y números consecutivos para no detallar su identidad y serán procesados en STATA 17. Las variables cualitativas se analizarán utilizando medidas de frecuencia y porcentajes; para las variables cuantitativas se utilizarán medidas de tendencia central. Conclusiones: El estudio permitirá una mejor comprensión de las infecciones urinarias en pacientes diabéticos, identificando los patógenos más comunes y la resistencia a los antimicrobianos. Los resultados ayudarán a mejorar las estrategias preventivas y tratamiento, reduciendo complicaciones y contribuyendo a políticas de salud pública enfocadas en el control glucémico y resistencia antimicrobiana, lo que mejorará la calidad de vida de estos pacientes.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that predisposes to the development of infections such as urinary tract infections (UTI), which can be a critical factor in these patients. Although the alteration in the metabolic profile and the presence of micro and macrovascular complications in diabetic patients suggest poor management of the disease, Peru has few studies that analyze and describe the clinical characteristics of these patients and their relationship with the development of urinary tract infections when they are hospitalized. Objective: To determine the clinical and microbiological profile of urinary tract infections in patients with diabetes mellitus hospitalized at the Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza from 2022 to 2024. Materials and Methods: Retrospective descriptive cross-sectional observational study. Hospitalized patients over 18 years old with a DM and urinary tract infection diagnosis will be selected from the Internal Medicine service of the Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza from 2022 to 2024, who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data will be obtained from the HNAL Statistics and Informatics Office and collected using a data sheet, then entered into a database with the initials of each patient and consecutive numbers so as not to detail their identity and processed in STATA 17. Qualitative variables will be analyzed using frequency measures and percentages; for quantitative variables, measures of central tendency will be used. Conclusions: This study will allow a better understanding of urinary tract infections in diabetic patients, identifying the most common pathogens and antimicrobial resistance. The results will help improve preventive strategies and treatment, reduce complications, and contribute to public health policies focused on glycemic control and antimicrobial resistance, improving these patients' quality of life.	es_ES
