dc.description.abstract	El Síndrome de Apnea Obstructiva del Sueño (SAOS) es un trastorno respiratorio del sueño, siendo el más común a nivel mundial, generando complicaciones a las personas que la padecen, está asociada a la disminución de la función cognitiva, específicamente la función ejecutiva, que permite, tomar decisiones, resolver problemas, planificar, organizar, regular nuestra conducta para lograr metas. El objetivo de esta revisión crítica fue analizar estudios que relacionan el síndrome de apnea obstructiva del sueño y funciones ejecutivas en adultos, mediante una metodología de diseño teórico de tipo revisión de literatura, la búsqueda se realizó considerando las bases de datos Google Scholar, Pubmed y Ebsco y analizando críticamente cada artículo, aplicando la metodología PRISMA, identificando que 20 de ellos satisficieron cada uno de los criterios de elegibilidad. Los hallazgos fundamentales evidencian que, la gran parte de estudios encontraron relación significativa entre ambas variables, los factores más comunes relacionados a la función ejecutiva fueron: la apnea/hipopnea, hipoxemia y fragmentación del sueño y finalmente a mayor gravedad del SAOS, mayor déficit en función ejecutiva. Las limitaciones incluyen tamaños muestrales pequeños y la evaluación cognitiva de la función ejecutiva fue parcial, ya que usaron pruebas breves que limitaron la identificación de alteraciones en la función ejecutiva, como también la gran disparidad entre las pruebas neuropsicológicas utilizadas	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a respiratory sleep disorder and the most common worldwide, causing complications for those who suffer from it. It is associated with decreased cognitive function, specifically executive function, which allows us to make decisions, solve problems, plan, organize, and regulate our behavior to achieve goals. The objective of this critical review was to analyze studies that relate obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and executive functions in adults, using a theoretical design methodology of a literature review. The search was conducted using the Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Ebsco databases, critically analyzing each article and applying the PRISMA methodology, identifying that 20 of them met each of the eligibility criteria. The key findings show that most studies found a significant relationship between the two variables. The most common factors related to executive function were apnea/hypopnea, hypoxemia, and sleep fragmentation. Finally, the more severe the OSAS, the greater the deficit in executive function. Limitations include small sample sizes and partial cognitive assessment of executive function, as brief tests were used that limited the identification of alterations in executive function, as well as the wide disparity between the neuropsychological tests used.	es_ES
