Introducción: El voluntariado universitario es un aspecto clave de la vinculación social que contribuye tanto al bienestar de la comunidad y, al mismo tiempo, refuerza la formación integral de los estudiantes. En el campo de la estomatología, participar en estas actividades permite aplicar los conocimientos teóricos a situaciones reales lo cual mejora las competencias profesionales y sociales. Sin embargo, existe poca evidencia científica sobre las motivaciones que se tienen para participar en el voluntariado universitario y varían según el nivel académico, entre estudiantes de pregrado y posgrado. Esto justifica la necesidad de investigar este tema en el entorno universitario. Objetivo: Evaluar y comparar las motivaciones para participar en actividades de voluntariado en estudiantes de pregrado y posgrado de la Facultad de Estomatología de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima–Perú, 2026. Materiales y métodos: Se desarrollará un estudio de tipo observacional, analítico y de corte transversal. La población y muestra estarán conformadas por estudiantes de pregrado y posgrado de la Facultad de Estomatología de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia que formen parte y participen en intervenciones de voluntariado a través de las Iniciativas de Voluntariado Herediano (IVH). Los datos se obtendrán mediante un cuestionario virtual autoaplicado, que incluirá datos generales y el Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI) en su versión validada al español. Se realizará un análisis descriptivo y comparativo de las motivaciones según el nivel académico, empleando pruebas estadísticas inferenciales con un nivel de confianza del 95%. Conclusiones: El estudio brindará información valiosa para optimizar programas de voluntariado universitario y guiar en el diseño de estrategias formativas adecuadas al nivel académico, también permitirá identificar y comparar las motivaciones que influyen en la participación en actividades de voluntariado universitario entre estudiantes de pregrado y posgrado.Introduction: University volunteering is a key component of social engagement that contributes to community well-being while strengthening students’ comprehensive education. In the field of stomatology, participation in these activities allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-life settings, thereby enhancing professional and social competencies. However, there is limited scientific evidence regarding the motivations for participating in university volunteering, which may vary according to academic level, particularly between undergraduate and postgraduate students. This highlights the need to further investigate this topic within the university context. Objective: To evaluate and compare the motivations for participating in volunteer activities among undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Stomatology at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima–Peru, 2026. Materials and Methods: An observational, analytical, and cross-sectional study will be conducted. The population and sample will consist of undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Faculty of Stomatology at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia who participate in volunteer interventions through the Herediano Volunteer Initiatives (IVH). Data will be collected using a self-administered online questionnaire, which will include general information and the Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI) in its Spanish validated version. A descriptive and comparative analysis of motivations according to academic level will be performed using inferential statistical tests with a 95% confidence level. Conclusions: This study will provide valuable information to optimize university volunteer programs and guide the development of training strategies tailored to academic level. It will also enable the identification and comparison of the motivations influencing participation in university volunteer activities among undergraduate and postgraduate students.
