dc.description.abstract	Objetivo: Evaluar la asociación entre enfermedades diarreicas agudas y desnutrición crónica en niñas y niños menores de 5 años en el Perú, empleando la base de datos de la Encuesta Demográfica y Salud Familiar-ENDES 2019. Metodología: Estudio observacional y descriptivo. La muestra de estudio estuvo conformada por 18 860 niñas y niños menores de 5 años de la fuente de los datos de la “Encuesta Demográfica y Salud Familiar” (ENDES 2019). Se realizó el análisis descriptivo de las variables principales y sociodemográficas en Perú y según región natural, mediante el análisis estadístico STATA versión 16; para determinar la asociación de las variables principales y sociodemográficas en Perú y según región natural, se utilizó la prueba estadística de Chi cuadrado; considerando un nivel de significancia p<0.05. Resultados: Las enfermedades diarreicas agudas (EDAS) y desnutrición crónica (DC) presentan asociación (p<0.05) en Perú y la región Selva. Los grupos de edad presentan asociación con las EDAS y DC en Perú y las cuatro regiones (p<0.05); el saneamiento básico y educación de la madre solo presenta asociación con la DC en Perú, en el resto de la Costa, Sierra y Selva (p<0.05); el sexo presenta asociación con las EDAS y DC en Perú y en el resto de la Costa (p<0.05); el área de residencia presenta asociación con las EDAS y DC en la Selva (p<0.05) y; los quintiles de riqueza presentan asociación con las EDAS y DC en Perú, Sierra y Selva (p<0.05), Limitaciones: Estudio transversal con datos reportados que no han sido corroborados y la muestra (base de datos de la ENDES 2019) es muy grande. Conclusiones: Se encontró asociación estadísticamente significativa entre enfermedades diarreicas agudas y desnutrición crónica en niñas y niños menores de 5 años en Perú.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	Objective: Evaluate the association between acute diarrheal diseases and chronic malnutrition in girls and boys under 5 years of age in Peru, using the database of the Demographic and Family Health Survey-ENDES 2019.Methodology: Observational and descriptive study. The study sample consisted of 18,860 girls and boys under 5 years of age from the secondary source of data from the “Demographic and Family Health Survey” (ENDES 2019). Descriptive analysis of the main and sociodemographic variables was carried out in Peru and according to natural region, using the statistical analysis STATA version 16; determine the association of the main and sociodemographic variables in Peru and according to natural region, the statistical test of Chi square was used; considering a level of significance p <0.05.Results: Acute diarrheal diseases (ADD) and chronic malnutrition (CM) present an association (p <0.05) in Peru and the Selva region. The age groups present an association with the ADD and DC in Peru and the four regions (p <0.05); basic sanitation and mother's education only shows association with CM in Peru, in the rest of the Coast, Sierra and Selva (p <0.05); sex is associated with ADD and DC in Peru and the rest of the Coast (p <0.05); the area of residence presents association with the ADD and CM in the Jungle (p <0.05) and; The wealth quintiles present an association with the ADD and CM in Peru, Sierra and Selva (p <0.05), Limitations: Cross-sectional study with reported data that have not been corroborated and the sample (ENDES 2019 database) is very large.Conclusions: A statistically significant association was found between acute diarrheal diseases and chronic malnutrition in girls and boys under 5 years of age in Peru.	es_ES
