Eficacia de dentífricos blanqueadores de venta libre sin peróxido de hidrógeno: estudio in vitro

Abstract

Existen dentífricos que prometen un blanqueamiento de dientes a pesar de no contener peróxido de hidrógeno en su composición. Por ello, el propósito de este estudio fue evaluar la eficacia de los dentífricos blanqueadores de venta libre sin peróxido de hidrógeno. Se utilizaron coronas de dientes humanos. Fueron colocadas en tubos de PVC y acrílico de autocurado. Las muestras fueron embebidas en té negro para su pigmentación durante 72 horas. Posterior a ello, los especímenes fueron divididos en 6 grupos según el dentífrico a evaluar: Colgate®Triple Acción Menta Original (Colgate-Palmolive Company), Colgate® Luminous White (Colgate-Palmolive Company), AP-24® (Nu Skin® Enterprises) , Pro White® (Grupo Hinode), Oral B® 3D White (Procter & Gamble), Close UP® White Attraction (Unilever), se aplicaron con cepillo eléctrico durante 21 días. El color se evaluó mediante el espectrofotómetro Vita EasyShade Advance 5.0 al inicio, después de la pigmentación, y después de 7, 14 y 21 días de cepillado. Se tomaron los datos de los parámetros L, a y b de la escala Cielab. Los datos obtenidos fueron analizados mediante ANOVA/Tukey. La mayor variación de ΔE y L la obtuvo Colgate Luminous White (p<0.05), la mayor variación de a ocurrió con Close Up White Attraction y Colgate Luminous White; y la mayor variación de b, Colgate Luminous White. En conclusión, todos los dentífricos blanqueadores sin peróxido de hidrógeno evaluados generaron cambios de color en la superficie dental, obteniendo los más altos resultados el dentífrico Colgate Luminous White seguido de AP-24 - NUSKIN y Oral B 3D White.

There are toothpastes that promise teeth whitening despite not containing hydrogen peroxide in their composition. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of over-the-counter whitening toothpastes without hydrogen peroxide. Human tooth crowns were used. They were placed in self-curing PVC and acrylic tubes. The samples were imbibed in black tea for pigmentation during 72 hours. After that, the specimens were divided into 6 groups according to the toothpaste to be evaluated: Colgate®Triple Acción Menta Original (Colgate-Palmolive Company), Colgate® Luminous White (Colgate-Palmolive Company), AP-24® (Nu Skin® Enterprises) , Pro White® (Grupo Hinode), Oral B® 3D White (Procter & Gamble), Close UP® White Attraction (Unilever), they were applied with an electric brush for 21 days. Color was assessed using the Vita EasyShade Advance 5.0 spectrophotometer at baseline, after pigmentation, and after 7, 14, and 21 days of brushing. The data of the parameters L, a and b of the Cielab scale were taken. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA/Tukey. The greatest variation of ΔE and L was obtained by Colgate Luminous White (p <0.05), the greatest variation of a occurred with Close Up White Attraction and Colgate Luminous White; and the greatest variation of b, Colgate Luminous White. In conclusion, all the whitening toothpastes without hydrogen peroxide evaluated generated color changes on the tooth surface, with the highest results being the Colgate Luminous White toothpaste followed by AP-24 - NUSKIN and Oral B 3D White.
