La sífilis es una infección prevenible que continúa siendo una amenaza global a la salud ya que causa alrededor de 12 millones de infecciones cada año. Su transmisión es predominantemente sexual y sus manifestaciones son variadas, pues muchas veces es asintomática o con síntomas no reconocidos (1,2). Por ello, la detección precoz y el tratamiento son críticos para evitar complicaciones serias; sin embargo, en países en vías de desarrollo el acceso a servicios de laboratorio es limitado, especialmente en comunidades rurales, es por ello que el uso de pruebas rápidas para sífilis (PRS) es una buena alternativa (3,4)....
