dc.description.abstract	El neonato es muy vulnerable, muchos de ellos ingresan en la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales, especialmente si nacen prematuramente, por lo cual se requiere un acceso venoso adecuado y seguro, siendo imprescindibles los catéteres central, principalmente los catéteres venosos centrales insertados periféricamente, que son una práctica común en la terapia intravenosa y es propio de los cuidados de enfermería, lo cual asegura un procedimiento efectivo, de calidad, reducción del dolor y complicaciones potenciales para el neonato. OBJETIVO: Evaluar los cuidados de enfermería en el manejo de catéter venoso central de inserción periférica (PICC) en neonatos según la revisión bibliográfica de los últimos 5 años METODOLOGIA: La presente investigación monográfica, corresponde a un tipo de revisión bibliográfica narrativa, el cual tiene como objetivo principal realizar una investigación documental, es decir, recopilar información ya existente sobre un tema o problema. CONCLUSIONES: En los estudios nacionales e internacionales se observa que existen resultados diversos en relación con el cuidado de enfermería en el manejo del catéter central de inserción periférica, los cuales hacen hincapié sobre la participación de la enfermera antes, durante y después de realizado dicho procedimiento. Dentro de los cuidados de enfermería antes de la colocación del catéter destaco: la limpieza con clorhexidina, la utilización de registros y formularios y el lavado de manos. Durante la colocación del catéter destaca el manejo del dolor del neonato y después de la colocación del catéter, la toma de radiografía y los cuidados para el mantenimiento del PICC.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	The newborn is very vulnerable, many of them are admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit, especially if they are born prematurely, so adequate and safe venous access is required, central catheters being essential, mainly peripherally inserted central venous catheters, which are a common practice in intravenous therapy and are typical of nursing care, which ensures an effective procedure, quality, pain reduction and potential complications for the newborn. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate nursing care in the management of central peripheral insertion venous catheter (PICC) in neonates according to the literature review of the last 5 years. METHODOLOGY: This monographic research corresponds to a type of narrative bibliographic review, which has as its main objective to carry out a documentary research, that is, to collect information already existing on a topic or problem. CONCLUSIONS: National and international studies show that there are diverse results in relation to nursing care in the management of the central peripheral insertion catheter, which emphasize the participation of the nurse before, during and after that procedure. Within the nursing care before the catheter placement I emphasize: cleaning with chlorhexidine, the use of records and forms and hand washing. During the placement of the catheter, neonatal pain management and after catheter placement, radiography and care for the maintenance of the PICC stand out.	es_ES
