Through knowledge, people can improve their abilities and/or skills, this also includes that they can perceive risks as a crucial element to protect their own well-being or health. Health workers carry out practices based on preventive measures to avoid being exposed to certain dangerous situations (such as accidents) and those they carry out to care for the patient. Health workers include doctors, nurses, among others, who are the most exposed to injuries or illnesses due to the assistance activities they carry out and which represents the use of sharp objects, being a constant cause which many consider to be typical of the role they perform. To dispose of sharp materials, procedures are carried out with the use of appropriate materials to avoid exposing the integrity of the nursing staff and the people in the environment. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and practice of biosafety measures in the handling of sharps in a national hospital, Lima 2022. Material and methods: This research will be of a non-experimental, quantitative, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional design. The population of this research will be made up of 45 nurses from the emergency service of a National Hospital in Lima; therefore, this project will not have a sample since it will work with the same population. Likewise, in terms of data collection, they will be the questionnaire and the observation sheet. |
