El objetivo del trabajo de suficiencia profesional fue describir la demanda del servicio especializado de dermatología en el Centro Veterinario “Ai Pets” en el distrito de San Miguel – Lima durante el periodo del 2020- 2021. Se evaluaron un total de 249 historias clínicas de los cuales 239 (96%) eran de especie canina y 10 (4%) de especie felina. El año 2020 se atendió 100 (41.8%) pacientes y el año 2021,129 (58.2%) pacientes, siendo la mayoría residente en el mismo distrito de ubicación del servicio veterinario. En el caso de la población total de caninos los pacientes predominantes fueron de las siguientes características; sexo macho (51.5%), edad promedio 4.9 años, raza pura (73.6%) y no esterilizado (65.7%). Y se determinó una mayor demanda durante el mes de noviembre (16.7%). El manejo de los canes incluía alimentación mixta (51.0%), salían a pasear a la calle (88.7%) y presentaron ectoparásitos en el momento de la consulta (69.9%). La prueba diagnóstica más usada fue el hisopado (34.3%) e impronta (28.9%) y la patología predominante fue la dermatosis bacteriana (41.2%). El tratamiento tópico fue el de elección por el médico especializado en dermatología (60.3%) y como segunda elección fue el tratamiento oral junto con el tratamiento tópico (34.3%). El 97% (224) del total de canes se recuperó totalmente. Debido al número reducido de gatos solo se describe lo más frecuente: el mes de Octubre fue el mes de mayor demanda, predominaron los de raza mestiza, de sexo hembra, de condición reproductiva castrada, con una edad media de 2.7 años, alimentados a base de alimentos balanceados comerciales, que salían de casa y presentaban ectoparásitos; siendo la impronta el método de diagnóstico más usado. La dermatitis causado por bacterias fue la causa de lesión más frecuente y prescribiéndose principalmente el tratamiento tópico. El trabajo resume la experiencia de dos años de atención dermatología en un centro veterinario y ofrece información de la casuística de importancia para los profesionales veterinarios de la especialidad en dermatología.The objective of the work of professional sufficiency was to describe the demand for the dermatology service at the "Ai pets" Veterinary Center in the district of San Miguel - Lima during the period 2020-2021. A higher demand from these patients was seen in November (16.7%). The handling of the dogs included mixed feeding (51.0%), most patients went out for walks (88.7%) and presented ectoparasites at the time of consultation (69.9%). The most used diagnostic test was the skin swab test (34.3%) and impression smears (28.9%) and the predominant pathologic finding was bacterial dermatosis (41.2%). The topical treatment was the one chosen by the doctor specialized in dermatology (60.3%) and the second preferred choice was oral treatment combined with the topical treatment (34.3%). 97% (224) of the total of canine patients fully recovered. Due to the reduced number of feline patients, only the most frequent findings are described: October was the month of greatest demand, most patients were of mixed breed, female, spayed or neutered, of an average age of 2.7 years of age, fed on commercial balanced foods, indoor/outdoor and presented ectoparasites. Impression smears were the most used diagnostic method. Dermatitis caused by bacteria was the most frequent cause of injury and topical treatment was mainly prescribed. The present study summarizes the experience of two years of dermatology care in a veterinary center and offers information on the caseload, important information for veterinary professionals specializing in dermatology.
