Antecedentes: La tomografía computarizada, es el estudio radiológico con mayor sensibilidad en el campo diagnóstico, el incremento de su uso estima cierta responsabilidad sobre los riesgos producidos, generando inquietudes que guían a las investigaciones a evaluar los niveles de dosis de radiación impartidos en cada exposición. Objetivo: Describir el Índice de Dosis en Tomografía Computarizada de tórax realizados en el Hospital Nacional Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen entre los meses marzo – agosto 2020. Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio observacional, de tipo descriptivo y de corte transversal con los datos del CTDI y DLP del tomógrafo PHILLIPS, se simularon dichos datos con el software CT-Expo V2.3, se compararon ambas informaciones y se registraron en tablas y gráficos de barras mediante el programa Microsoft Excel 2015. Resultados: De 395 TC de tórax, la población más expuesta fue el sexo masculino (55%) mayores de 59 años (52%), los valores promedios fueron: Peso:84 Kg, Talla: 1,66 cm. Para el Índice de Dosis, los valores promedios fueron: tomógrafo PHILLIPS: 9,58 mGy, Software Ct-Expo: 9,5 mGy. Para el Producto Dosis Longitud, los valores promedios fueron: tomógrafo PHILLIPS: 466,2 mGy*cm, Software Ct-Expo: 471 mGy*cm. Para la dosis efectiva, el valor obtenido del simulador fue de 7,84 mSv Conclusión: El Software Simulador CT-Expo es una herramienta valiosa, ya que estima la dosis de radiación de una población con características estándares, señalando una mejor precisión dosimétrica del tórax.Background: Computed tomography is the radiological study with the greatest sensitivity in the diagnostic field, the increase in its use creates awareness of the risks produced, generating concerns that guide research to evaluate the dose levels given in each exposure. Objective: To describe the Dose Index in Computed Tomography of the chest performed at the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital between March and August 2020. Materials and Methods: An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out with the CTDI and DLP data from the PHILLIPS tomograph, the data were simulated with the CT-Expo V2.3 software, both data were compared and recorded in tables and bar graphs using Microsoft Office Excel 2015. Results: Out of 395 chest CT scans, the most exposed population was male (55%) over 59 years old (52%), the average values were: Weight: 84 kg, Height: 1.66 cm. For the Dose Index, the average values were: PHILLIPS tomograph: 9.58 mGy, Ct-Expo Software: 9.5 mGy. For the Product Dose Length, the average values were: PHILLIPS tomograph: 466.2 mGy*cm, Ct-Expo Software: 471.69 mGy*cm. For the effective dose, the value obtained from the simulator was 7.84 mSv Conclusion: The CT-Expo Simulator Software is a valuable tool, as it estimates the radiation dose of a population with standard characteristics, indicating a better dosimetric accuracy of the chest.
