Objetivo: Evaluar las características de la adherencia en pacientes oncológicos a los cuidados paliativos en el periodo de setiembre de 2020 a febrero de 2021. Material y métodos: Estudio transversal analítico. Se revisaron 300 historias clínicas de los pacientes atendidos en el programa Atención Domiciliaria Integral Oncológico del Hospital Cayetano Heredia desde setiembre 2020 hasta febrero 2021, durante la pandemia por la COVID-19. Se utilizaron 2 variables para medir la adherencia que son adherencia a la cita y constancia a la visita, estableciendo una cantidad mínima de consultas externas y visitas domiciliarias según la escala de evaluación funcional que es el ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group). Resultados: Se incluyeron 169 participantes, siendo 115 mujeres y 61.7 la media de edad. La adherencia y constancia a la consulta externa fue mayor en los pacientes con mayor dependencia funcional (ECOG 3) en un 21% y 37% respectivamente, a diferencia del grupo con menor dependencia funcional (ECOG 1 y 2). La adherencia y constancia a las visitas domiciliarias fueron bajas en todo el estudio, solo el 3% de pacientes fue adherente a las visitas domiciliarias; no realizándose visitas domiciliarias a los pacientes con ECOG 1, priorizándose a pacientes con mayor dependencia funcional. Hay mayor prevalencia de ser adherentes a las consultas externas en aquellos pacientes que habían recibido visitas domiciliarias. Los pacientes que vivían a una distancia menor de 10km del hospital tuvieron el doble (32.9%) de constancia a la consulta externa que aquellos pacientes que vivían de 10-20km (15.8%). Conclusión: Los niveles de adherencia en consulta externa como en visitas domiciliarias fueron bajos en el estudio.Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of adherence in oncology patients to palliative care in the period from September 2020 to February 2021. Materials and Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study. We reviewed 300 clinical records of the patients attended in the program Domiciliary Attention Integral Oncology of the Hospital Cayetano Heredia from September 2020 to February 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Two variables were used to measure adherence, which are adherence to the appointment and constancy to the visit, establishing a minimum number of outpatient and home visits according to the functional evaluation scale, which is the ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group). Results: A total of 169 participants were included, with 115 women and a mean age of 61.7. Adherence and constancy to outpatient visits was higher in patients with greater functional dependence (ECOG 3) by 21% and 37% respectively, in contrast to the group with lower functional dependence (ECOG 1 and 2). Adherence and constancy to home visits were low throughout the study, only 3% of patients were adherent to home visits; no home visits were made to patients with ECOG 1, prioritizing patients with greater functional dependence. There was a higher prevalence of adherence to outpatient visits in those patients who had received home visits. Patients who lived less than 10 km from the hospital had twice as many (32.9%) more consistent outpatient visits than those patients who lived 10-20 km from the hospital (15.8%). Conclusions: The levels of adherence in outpatient clinics as well as in home visits were low in the study.
