Antecedentes: Durante la pandemia se vió un cambio significativo en la conducta sexual de las personas .Asimismo, la pandemia trajo factores que influyeron en el sistema de salud como en la atención en salud sexual para diagnóstico y manejo de las infecciones de transmisión sexual (ITS) . Objetivo: Comparar la frecuencia de herpes genital, gonorrea y sífilis, durante el periodo 2018 - 2019 con el periodo 2020 - 2021; para evaluar el impacto de la pandemia en el número de pacientes nuevos por ITS .Material y métodos: El presente estudio será de característica observacional, transversal retrospectivo. En base a la revisión de registros de pacientes atendidos por ITS en el periodo 2018 al 2021 del Centro de Salud especializado Raúl Patruco. Resultados: En el primer periodo, se revisaron 1486 historias y en el segundo, 1240 historias, siendo 68.6 % de los pacientes masculinos y 31.4 % femeninos. La edad promedio fue 31 años .La frecuencia de herpes genital aumentó de 8.9% a 10.7% (p=0.056), la frecuencia de gonorrea aumentó del 19.2 % al 26.7% (p=0.007). y la frecuencia de sífilis aumentó de 36.2% al 42.9% (p<0.001). En el caso de las coinfecciónes el único cambio significativo fue sífilis- VIH de 7.7% a 13.4% (p <0.001). Las prácticas sexuales que incluyen las prácticas anales predominan en ambos periodos 76.6% y 84% casos en el primer y segundo periodo respectivamente. Conclusiones: Se observó un aumento significativo en las frecuencias de sífilis , herpes , gonorrea del periodo pre pandemia al periodo de pandemia.
Background: During the pandemic, a significant change has been seen in people's sexual behavior. Likewise, the pandemic brought factors that influenced the health system. Consequently, care decreased and due to extensive quarantines, they did not seek sexual health care for the diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Objective: Compare the frequency of genital herpes, gonorrhea and syphilis, during the period 2018 - 2019 with the period 2020 - 2021; to evaluate the impact of the pandemic on the number of new STI patients. Material and methods: The present study will be observational, retrospective, crosssectional. Based on the review of pre-existing records of patients treated for STIs in the period 2018 to 2021 at the Raúl Patruco specialized Health Center. Results: In the first period, 1486 stories were reviewed and in the second, 1240 stories, with 68.6% of the patients being male and 31.4% female. The average age was 31 years, with a standard deviation of 11.2. The frequency of genital herpes increased from 8.9% to 10.7% (p=0.056), the frequency of gonorrhea increased from 19.2% to 26.7% (p=0.007). and the frequency of syphilis increased from 36.2% to 42.9% (p<0.001). In the case of coinfections, the only one that had a significant change was syphilis-HIV from 7.7% to 13.4% (p <0.001). In the studied population, sexual practices that include anal practices predominate in both periods, 76.6% and 84% cases in the first and second periods respectively. Conclusions: A significant increase in the frequencies of syphilis, herpes, and gonorrhea was observed from the pre-pandemic period to the pandemic period.
