Antecedentes: Los intervalos de referencia (IR) son fundamentales en la interpretación de los procedimientos analíticos. Es de suma importancia que cada laboratorio estime sus propios IR de la población con la que trabaja, su objetivo es verificar y validar los procedimientos analíticos. Objetivos: Determinar los intervalos de referencia de parámetros hematológicos a partir de postulantes que asisten a donar sangre al Hospital Cayetano Heredia, de acuerdo, a los criterios de CLSI. Metodología: El presente estudio es observacional y de corte transversal. Se recolectaron 221 muestras de postulantes que asistieron al Hospital Cayetano Heredia, siguiendo los lineamientos de la guía CLSI C28-A3. Las variables se agruparon en parámetros de la serie roja; serie blanca y serie plaquetaria. El análisis estadístico se realizó en el software MedCalc. Resultados: De un total de 201 postulantes los IR obtenidos fueron: glóbulos rojos: (3,8 a 5,6) 10⁶/ul; hemoglobina: (11 a 16) g/dL; glóbulos blancos: (4,7 a 9,7) 10³/ul y plaquetas: (159 a 367) 10³/ul. Se observaron diferencias significativas con respecto al sexo en los parámetros de la serie roja (conteo de glóbulos rojos, hemoglobina y hematocrito) y conteo de plaquetas (p<0,05). No se halló diferencia estadística para el grupo etario. Conclusión: Los IR hallados son diferentes a los reportados en la literatura y no se encontró diferencias significativas de los parámetros hematológicos en el grupo etario, pero si hubo diferencias en algunos parámetros cuando se evaluó por sexo.Background: Reference intervals (RI) are fundamental in the interpretation of analytical procedures. The variables were grouped into red series parameters; white series and platelet series. Statistical analysis was performed in MedCalc software. Results: From a total of 201 applicants, the IR obtained were: red blood cells: (3.8 to 5.6) 10⁶/ul; hemoglobin: (11 to 16) g/dL; white blood cells: (4.7 to 9.7) 10³/ul and platelets: (159 to 367) 10³/ul. Significant differences were observed with respect to sex in the parameters of the red blood cell count (red cell count, hemoglobin and hematocrit) and platelet count (p<0.05). No statistical differences were found with respect to age group Conclusion: The IR found are different from those reported in the literature and no significant differences were found in the hematological parameters in the age group, but there were differences in some parameters when evaluated by sex.
