La finalidad del estudio fue evaluar la eficacia antimicrobiana de la pasta “experimental” a base de doxiciclina- claritromicina- metronidazol frente a Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29212) y a Candida albicans (ATCC 24433), en comparación con la pasta Trimix y pasta Fortrimax. El estudio estuvo conformado por un total 120 placas petri y se utilizó la técnica de método de difusión en pozo. 60 placas petri conteniendo agar Tripticasa Soya fueron inoculadas con Enterococcus faecalis, siendo distribuidas en 20 placas para cada pasta medicamentosa. En cada placa se perforó 4 pozos, depositándose la pasta antibiótica, Ca (OH)2, control positivo, control negativo en cada uno de los pozos. Por otro lado, otras 60 placas petri conteniendo agar Sabouraud fueron inoculadas con Candida albicans, siendo divididas en 20 placas petri para cada pasta medicamentosa. Igualmente, en cada placa se perforó 4 pozos, colocándose la pasta antibiótica, Ca (OH)2, control positivo, control negativo en cada uno de los pozos. Finalmente, las lecturas de los halos de inhibición fueron tomadas a las 24 horas y 48 horas. Se utilizó ANOVA con prueba pos-hoc de Bonferri (p<0,05). Se observó que la pasta Trimix fue más eficaz con el Enterococcus faecalis seguida de la pasta “experimental”. La pasta Trimix obtuvo buen efecto antimicótico frente a Candida albicans, seguida del Fortrimax y pasta “experimental”. Se concluye que la pasta “experimental” presenta un halo de inhibición que se interpreta como sumamente sensible frente al Enterococcus faecalis y Candida albicans a las 24 horas y 48 horas.The purpose of the study was to evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy of the "experimental" paste based on doxycycline- clarithromycin- metronidazole against Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29212) and Candida albicans (ATCC 24433), in comparison with Trimix paste and Fortrimax paste. The study consisted of a total of 120 petri dishes and the well diffusion method technique was used. 60 petri dishes containing Trypticase Soya agar were inoculated with Enterococcus faecalis, being distributed in 20 plates for each drug paste. In each plate 4 wells were perforated, depositing the antibiotic paste, Ca(OH)2, positive control, negative control in each of the wells. On the other hand, another 60 petri dishes containing Sabouraud agar were inoculated with Candida albicans, being divided into 20 petri dishes for each drug paste. Likewise, in each plate 4 wells were perforated, placing the antibiotic paste, Ca (OH)2, positive control, negative control in each of the wells. Finally, the readings of the inhibition halos were taken at 24 hours and 48 hours. ANOVA with Bonferri's post-hoc test was used (p<0.05). It was observed that the Trimix paste was more effective with Enterococcus faecalis followed by the "experimental" paste. Trimix paste obtained good antifungal effect against Candida albicans, followed by Fortrimax and "experimental" paste. It is concluded that the "experimental" paste presents an inhibition halo that is interpreted as highly sensitive to Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans at 24 hours and 48 hours.
